Auctions come to Planet-9 !

Mar 10, 2017 - 12:55 PM - by K-Man S
We are happy to announce that Planet-9 now has Auction capabilities through our partner Panjo! Planet-9 members can now create their own classified listing and choose to sell their item(s) via an auction format very similar to other popular auction sites on the web. We've set up our first site auction as an example to our members of what can be done and to give our members first shot at an incredible item we've put up for sale, a pair of custom GT3 carbon fiber bucket seats.

See our auction here: ***

If you have any questions about how to get started with your own auction items or want to convert an existing listing to an auction listing, please contact Panjo customer support, as they are standing by to assist with this new... [Read More]

Lid Liner Holiday Special! 25% OFF!!!

Dec 15, 2016 - 1:11 PM - by K-Man S
Lid Liner was created by PDR technicians that were increasingly called upon to repair “outies” to Porsche hoods and trunks that were inadvertently closed on protruding objects. Why not just prevent it in the first place? Since 2002, Lid Liner has allowed you to pack it in and be on your way… Here's a testimonial from a happy Porsche owner: "My Personal experience, I’ll be brief-The hood struts needed to be replaced on my ’02 996 Cab, so as a precaution, I wedged my son’s soccer ball to prevent the hood from coming down. I threw his bag in the trunk with gallon water jug on top. My son, the helper that he is, decided I couldn’t possibly want the ball there, so he removed it-and down came the hood, crashing on the water jug! Fortunately - I had already installed a lid liner, the only product developed to protect the underside of the exposed Porsche lid, and after the initial surprise, and grimace,... [Read More]

2016 Los Angeles Auto Show

Nov 16, 2016 - 6:40 AM - by K-Man S
Los Angeles It is that time of the year again, the Los Angeles Auto show. In the past we've seen the 981 Cayman and Cayman GT4 Clubsport unveiled at this show. This year, Porsche is focusing on 3 new Panamera variants. We've sent our trusty reporters to get some information and images from the show again this year and they will be posting them to this topic thread. In fact any members that attend the show are welcome to share their thoughts, experiences and photos here in this topic thread. Here is the information about the new Panameras:

Porsche is continuing to expand the model range of the new Panamera: The new V6 turbo is a highly efficient and agile entry-level addition to the impressive range of engines. Power is up by 20 hp from the corresponding engine of the previous Panamera generation. At the same time, Porsche... [Read More]

Porsche Experience Center - Atlanta - PECATL

Sep 29, 2016 - 2:51 PM - by K-Man S
September 24, 2016 - Atlanta Today was the day that I had been waiting for. Since the day I had received a voucher from my salesman at The Porsche Exchange that came along with my GT4, I had been waiting for my chance to try out a GT4 on Porsche's test track in Atlanta. Although the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta (PECATL for short) had been open for more than a year, I had not yet had the chance to make the pilgrimage to the center of all things Porsche in the U.S. For those who don't know, PECATL has a variety of test track scenarios upon which to test a new Porsche. There is the 1.8 mile main handling track, the low friction handling track, the low friction circle, the braking and slalom exercises, and finally the dreaded kick plate. There is also an off-road course, but not for GT4 drivers. Porsche offers a variety of experiences that you can sign up for. I encourage you to visit their website for more details (... [Read More]

Gloss-It EVO Quartz 5H Coating

Aug 31, 2016 - 1:02 PM - by K-Man S
One of the items I noticed about members picking up their new Porsches, particularly GT4's was that many of them were getting something they called a "Quartz" treatment or Quartz coating on their car. Members seemingly were paying thousands of dollars for this coating as well. My first thought was "Why are people paying $2000 for a wax job?". Even the best waxes I've used are gone or severely reduced after a couple of car washes, so why would someone pay $2k for something that didn't last? The answer is they don't. A Quartz coating is not like a normal polymer or carnuba car wax. As I understand it the chemicals in the Quartz coating actually bond with automotive clear coats to form a hardened layer on top of the clear coat. This layer is supposed to remain for a long period of time until it is either polished off or eventually abrades away. (As a point of reference Gloss-It charges $1250 to do 2 coats of 5H on a...
