2016 Los Angeles Auto Show

Nov 16, 2016 - 7:40 AM - by K-Man S
Los Angeles It is that time of the year again, the Los Angeles Auto show. In the past we've seen the 981 Cayman and Cayman GT4 Clubsport unveiled at this show. This year, Porsche is focusing on 3 new Panamera variants. We've sent our trusty reporters to get some information and images from the show again this year and they will be posting them to this topic thread. In fact any members that attend the show are welcome to share their thoughts, experiences and photos here in this topic thread. Here is the information about the new Panameras:

Porsche is continuing to expand the model range of the new Panamera: The new V6 turbo is a highly efficient and agile entry-level addition to the impressive range of engines. Power is up by 20 hp from the corresponding engine of the previous Panamera generation. At the same time, Porsche... [Read More]

Porsche Experience Center - Atlanta - PECATL

Sep 29, 2016 - 3:51 PM - by K-Man S
September 24, 2016 - Atlanta Today was the day that I had been waiting for. Since the day I had received a voucher from my salesman at The Porsche Exchange that came along with my GT4, I had been waiting for my chance to try out a GT4 on Porsche's test track in Atlanta. Although the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta (PECATL for short) had been open for more than a year, I had not yet had the chance to make the pilgrimage to the center of all things Porsche in the U.S. For those who don't know, PECATL has a variety of test track scenarios upon which to test a new Porsche. There is the 1.8 mile main handling track, the low friction handling track, the low friction circle, the braking and slalom exercises, and finally the dreaded kick plate. There is also an off-road course, but not for GT4 drivers. Porsche offers a variety of experiences that you can sign up for. I encourage you to visit their website for more details (... [Read More]

Gloss-It EVO Quartz 5H Coating

Aug 31, 2016 - 2:02 PM - by K-Man S
One of the items I noticed about members picking up their new Porsches, particularly GT4's was that many of them were getting something they called a "Quartz" treatment or Quartz coating on their car. Members seemingly were paying thousands of dollars for this coating as well. My first thought was "Why are people paying $2000 for a wax job?". Even the best waxes I've used are gone or severely reduced after a couple of car washes, so why would someone pay $2k for something that didn't last? The answer is they don't. A Quartz coating is not like a normal polymer or carnuba car wax. As I understand it the chemicals in the Quartz coating actually bond with automotive clear coats to form a hardened layer on top of the clear coat. This layer is supposed to remain for a long period of time until it is either polished off or eventually abrades away. (As a point of reference Gloss-It charges $1250 to do 2 coats of 5H on a... Window Sticker Interest Poll - Please Respond!

Aug 19, 2016 - 11:04 AM - by K-Man S
Ok I have found a place to make window stickers and I either need to buy 100, 250 or 500, buying 500 is the most economical in terms of cost per unit, but given the overall costs I'm not going to be able to send these out to people free of charge. In other words what I will need for members to do is send me a self addressed stamped envelope and I will put a decal into it and send it back to you, no charge for the decal. I don't have a final proof back from the printer yet, I should in the next few days, but I've attached a close approximation of the window decal. Please let me know if you want one (no need to send envelope yet), I'm just trying to judge interest.
Thanks in advance!

More than 400 Porsches sit idle with PCM Shortage!

Aug 11, 2016 - 1:37 PM - by K-Man S
Atlanta More than 400 new Porsches are not in the hands of their new owners but rather sitting idle waiting for a missing part, and the number continues to grow. The part in question is the new Porsche Communications Management (PCM) 4.0 that utilizes Apple CarPlay. Porsche's supplier has been unable to deliver units to Porsche citing production problems in Japan as the source of the delay. Meanwhile Porsche continues to produce cars and ship them where they will sit at port waiting for a retrofit of the PCM system when parts become available. At the present time no one knows how long that might be and would-be owners are not given an option to take delivery without PCM and receive the missing unit at a later date. One owner, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that this has been going on for over a month and that he is about to cancel his order if his car is not delivered soon.

Have you been waiting on a new Porsche... [Read More]
