The same new four-cylinder flat engines with turbocharging as in the 718 Boxster are being deployed in the 718 Cayman. As a result, coupé and roadster have an identical engine output for the first time. The entry-level... [Read More]

Limited production of only 9 exclusive bags hand made in Italy. Configurable for 981 owners. Exclusive to Planet 9.

What a great way to welcome our latest Planet-9 sponsor: The Driver’s Gear Box, an online store offering unique gear and accessories for sports car drivers. But before we get to this offer, let me share the back-story.

The story started in 2014 when Eric D’Amours from Toronto first test drove a 981 Cayman S. Eric had a number of powerful cars before but this test drive let him discover what “true” sports car driving is all about. Not long after getting his first “true” sports car, he realized that beyond the driving experience, the reality of sports car design was also about space management. Finding distinctive driving gear that worked with limited footwells and trunks became his quest.

Say hello to the manual, 500-hp Porsche 911 R

Feb 29, 2016 - 3:50 AM - by RSS_feed_bot
Each model interprets the high art of lateral dynamics in its own way: the 911 R as a purist driving machine with a 368 kW (500 hp, 13.3 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 308 g/km) naturally aspirated engine in the rear, the Roadster with advanced chassis and turbocharged four-cylinder mid-mounted engine. The 718 Boxster develops 220 kW (300 hp, 7.4 – 6.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 168 - 158 g/km) of power from two litres of engine displacement, while the 718 Boxster S attains 257 kW (350 hp, 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 184 - 167 g/km) from 2.5 litres of displacement.
By presenting the 911 R, Porsche is staging an almost traditional opening to the European automobile year with an exceptional sports car. In previous years, the 911 GT3, 918... [Read More]

Here is the Official 718 Boxster

Jan 26, 2016 - 4:30 PM - by tonester
The new Porsche 718 Boxster20 years after the first Boxster made its debut, Porsche is restructuring its mid-engine roadsters. The designation for the new generation of models is 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S.

The two-seat convertibles are now more powerful yet more fuel efficient. With them, Porsche continues the tradition of the four-cylinder flat engines that were used in the Porsche 718 mid-engine sports cars that won numerous races back in the 1950s and 1960s, among them being the legendary Targa Florio and Le Mans. The centrepiece of the new model series is the newly developed four-cylinder flat engine with turbocharging. The 718 Boxster develops 220 kW (300 hp) of power from two litres of engine displacement, while the 718 Boxster S attains 257 kW (350 hp) from 2.5 litres of displacement. In the S-model, Porsche also uses a turbocharger... [Read More]

So Porsche announces the new 718 Boxster details and our members have quite a bit to say about it! If you haven't visited the dedicated 718 forums yet you really should. Topics there are ranging from price guessing to exhaust sounds, to what is up with those new dash vents. As someone who has lived through multiple Porsche model launches and model refreshes for more than a decade online I would have to say that the initial 718 Boxster details have been fairly polarizing. Members have either tended to love it or hate it, with not a lot in between, although I suspect for members who don't really care one way or the other that they are much less likely to post and say just that. Despite predictions of doom and gloom from some... [Read More]
