New member here joining from Belgium. Sorry, if this is not the correct thread.
I previously owned a basalt black 987 which was the best car I ever had. Really enjoyed that for 5 years and then sold it in 2012. I ordered the new 718 in December and delivery would be around May-June. I haven't seen a new 718 in the configuration that I ordered so I am very anxious to see IRL how it will work out. I opted for Rhodium silver with black Carrera S wheels, black sport exhausts with sport exhaust system and sport chrono, black leather sport seats with Porsche logo, Bose, gps and park assist and the chrome fuel cap. Now I just need to survive the long wait... I am interested to see pictures of other member's cars and how configurations work out and your experiences...Have already seen some very nice combo's in this thread. Will post pictures of my beast once delivered.
So not exactly "just" for me...actually I took delivery at the Atlanta PEC back in October, but just found this forum now.
My first post here.
I'm waiting for my new 718 Cayman S, and it is a tough wait! I ordered it back at the beginning of November and am still waiting! It was apparently finished in January and then sat around for several weeks before going to the docks to be shipped to the US. The dealer told me it was going to be shipped mid February, so I thought great - it'll be here soon. But then they called mt at the end of February and said it still hadn't been shipped and was still in Germany! Ugh - it would have been better to not promise me the mid February date and get my hopes up. So now the dealer said it was put on a ship on March 3rd (and I had him verify that multiple times!) So new estimated date is end of March. Besides the crazy long wait and desperation to get my new car, I'm also concerned about the US enacting some sort of import tax and making the car exponentially more expensive than the original agreed upon price!
So, as I'm sure everyone else in this thread has gone through - I just want it here now.
It's a stick shift, sapphire blue, sports seats.
Good luck on your order!
Hi All, I just joined and I recently took my new order on 2/26/17. I ordered the car on 11/22/17 and it was supposed to arrive in mid-April 2017. So it was a nice surprise getting it nearly 2 months earlier. It's been a blast driving the 718 Cayman these past couple of weeks. The driving experience is very different from the 987 and 981 models. It's very quick and it never feels like I'm driving fast when in actuality, it's blazingly fast, maybe too quick for its own good.
Mine is a 718 Cayman base, Black Exterior, Black Standard Interior, PDK, with the Sport Chrono Package and Sports Chrome Style Dual-Exhausts as well as most of the safety features.
I have to find some time this weekend to take some pictures... I also need to find an image hosting website/profile!
Here are some pictures of my family's new car. It's been a real pleasure driving the car since we took delivery of it a couple weeks ago. A 2017 Porsche Cayman 718, black exterior, black interior, with PDK and sport chrono package as option highlights.
Those Cayman 18" wheels actually look pretty good on the car in your photographs. Much more interesting than how they look on the configurator.
Beautiful car. Enjoy it in good health.
Well my car is apparently in the port now, and has to wait for who knows how long for PDI. It will have been almost 5 months by the time I get it. I'm pretty frustrated at this point as that is far too long a wait for a car. I don't think I'd do this again.
Enjoy your car in continued good health. 2,000 miles in 3 weeks sounds like what I did with my last Porsche. Drove it every day, several times a day, sometimes for no more reason than how enjoyable it was to drive.

Just got an email from the dealer saying the car is done with PDI and can now be released to the transporter. So that is good news.
So, just took delivery today. My dealer (Colorado) had ordered a car for me from a dealership in Alabama. But after 2 weeks they still didn't have the damn thing on a truck yet so i go impatient and just went to a different dealer and bought off of the lot:
Graphite Metallic Blue
14 way Sport Plus Seats (Black)
18inch Boxster Wheels
Heated Multi Function Wheel
Power Steering Plus
Super excited with the car. I am going to do a video review tomorrow and post it up. And dont believe the hype, it sounds Fantastic. I had a 2014 Cayman and a 2014 Boxster, so I know how the old model sounded. It doesn't sound the same for sure. But great in a different way.
If anyone is interested, 5% off MSRP and i got them to lower the clear bra cost to $895 to match a competitors bid.
