    Front License Plate Bracket?

My state requires a front license plate, unfortunately. I don't want to drill any holes into the bumper. What front license plate bracket would you recommend?

USMillWorks has 981 kits, but they are not compatible with front park assist (which I have) :-( Is there any other kit that could be used?

    Thanks in advance!

I think I live an the same state as you so I guess I should put my on too... naaaaahhhhhh .

Believe it or not the cops are pretty cool about this and they do appreciate beautiful cars just like us. They would get you only if you really p*** them off.

In one of my conversation with one of the older and wiser gentleman he told me to leave that little white temporary permit on the lower right of your windshield on. People see this from the front they will think that your car is new so they won't bother.

Or ... what if ... you get one of those fancy tow hook license plate holder and if you get caught, put on your license plate, go pay your ticket, then take it off after you get home?

Disclaimer. I am just thinking out loud here and in no way in any shape or form that I am advising you to trash I mean disregard the law.

Both TX and WA require front plates and I did not put them on my vehicle. 20k later and still no problems, never been pulled over for that. Been pulled for speeding but never cited nor even mentioned by the cop about front plates.
Run without them till they stop you for it.

Wow, a front plate. Next thing I'm going to hear. We also have to get our cars inspected every year. Hope that's not the case too. The tax man gets his.

Cayman Club Re: Front License Plate Bracket?

Back in the '80's when I had my 911SC, I wouldn't put the front plate on.

The cops would stop me and give me an "equipment violation" ticket (which basically covered anything that wasn't right on your car).

All you had to do was fix what was wrong, drive to the police station, show them the fix, and they'd close the ticket (no money).

It worked good for the station because it showed that the officers were out doing their job.

I'd put the front plate on, drive to the station, they'd verify it, and close the ticket. Then I'd take it back off in their parking lot, and drive off.

I received so many tickets that they got to know me there!

    regards,

This is the coolest license plate adapter. There are two manufacturers on this site that are sponsors .... I got this one just because I saw it first, the other guys part is just as cool I purchased one and used it for a week then took it off because the front end of the Cayman is so cool with no plate

I guess it depends where you live, here in Oregon they love to give tickets for no front plate. It's mostly downtown, when you park anywhere in Portland the LEO's that ticket you for parking violations can ticket you for no front plate too. So, MowerAxle in the tow hook for me..

Yes a couple of our sponsors have these and I recommend them if you need to install a front plate in your state.

    Re: Front License Plate Bracket?

The ticketing for this is so bad in San Francisco that many of my friends don't even go there anymore. I have a friend who came out from dinner after spending nearly $1000 only to find a $114 ticket on his Ferrari for no front plate. The city revenue generation must be hurting at least some of the business there.

BTW, Rumor has it that San Jose Police started charging $50 to signoff "fix-it" tickets in addition to whatever the processing fee is to clear the ticket. In SJ the processing fee is $24.

No need for brackets. Use double sided adhesive tape to attach the plate to the front bumper... Very clean and can be removed easily by hand but won't fall.

    I have it on mine.

I live in California and have been ticketed by Chp several times over the years. The fix-it ticket comes with a $10 fee. I got tired of getting sited, so I mounted the plate.

    Re: Front License Plate Bracket?

Virginia requires a front tag. I have watched countless tickets issued on cars that don't even have a way to mount one. I even tried to make a case with an officer that the 911 Turbo he was ticketing was beautifying the nieghborhood! He said the law is the law. So, I bought the US Millworks solution. A sample pic from their site is below. Looks like a nice, sturdy product. Already asked my dealer not to mount the stock Porsche bracket so we can use this instead.

If we had the narrow plates like in Europe in wouldn't be so bad.

    Re: Front License Plate Bracket?

I have been driving without a front plate here in Texas since 2003 and never was stopped until recently. The Highway patrol officer gave me a warning ticket. That warning was enough for me. I now use the Mower Axle product.

I got a moving violation - imagine that - just a few months ago. Not a word about the missing front plate.

So for those people that have gotten tickets for not having a front plate, its just money right? Like theres nothing about points or your driving record or anything?

Same in MD. Within a couple of years I was stopped twice. The first time I got a warning and the second I got a $60 fine. I mounted the front bracket since I don't want to be concerned every time a state trooper rides by. Moreover, since most states and cities are strapped for cash, not having a front plate when required by law is low hanging fruit for the mobile fee collectors.
