Hello P-9! Figured it was time for me to formally introduce myself. My name's Danny Lopez, i'm a professional product, interactive, and graphic designer, and I'm from LI, NY.

I'm a big VW guy, and a moderator over at the VWVortex forums. I've been building my 2003 GTI VR6 since 2006 when I bought it with 19k miles. It now has several modifications including a turbocharger. It makes somewhere over 500whp (last dyno 474whp, but running more boost now), is still my daily driver, and has over 55k on the turbo setup. It was built to be driven hard, and reliably. I have a big passion for VR/W engines, and run an enthusiast site/blog called VRSociety.

But, i'm really just an all around gearhead at heart. My family has always has always been in the automotive business, so I grew up around cars, and like most who do, it stuck and became a passion from a very young age.

In August, I finally had the pleasure of picking up a CPO 2014 981 Cayman S in beautiful Sapphire Blue Metallic with 20k gingerly driven miles at a total deal from Porsche of South Shore. I've always dreamt of owning a Porsche, and the 981 is just perfect to me in every way. It's got all the right options (for me anyway) and it drives and sounds amazing.

I'll be using this thread to update on the car, a build thread if you will, as this car will most definitely be getting modified. The mod bug has been biting me hard =P

I'm a new PCA member as well in the Metro NY region. I'm looking forward to meeting people on this side of the automotive community and getting to some events hopefully this year.

Cheers!
- Danny

Some really nice pictures, but would be even better with the wing down. I don't understand the fascination with that silly wing, especially with dealers who leave it up for cars on display. It actually looks like a toy. When on the highway, I try to stay under 75MPH just so it won't come up. Emoticon Yellow Black Smiley Smile

I'm the exact opposite! I leave it up 99.9% of the time. That 0.1% is when it's parked (I don't want some thug to try to break it off)

Vortex alum over here too. I was on the R32 forum over there when I owned one, then I moved over to TCL and been there since.

I use the same handle over there, too...

OP, congrats and awesome car!! Enjoy!

Sapphire Blue is the best. I originally had Agate Grey on my order and changed it to SBM at the last minute - best decision I made (Agate Grey is still a great color; my interior is Agate Grey/Amber Orange).

Kindrunnermike: just curious, is the car in your avatar your car? I only ask because that looks a lot like a dealer inventory picture from Porsche of North Houston (where I ordered my car). I never got to see SBM in person until my car arrived.

Welcome to the family!

Can't wait to see the mods. Most porsche owners are not too heavy on the mods. So these threads are good!

Welcome Danny. I'm from Long Island also and still have family up there in Babylon.

I would suggest using the 981 Modifications section of the forum for build blogs which is a very active area. Good luck and enjoy your new-to-you, 981S.
