Does anybody in here have dreams about their cars?

I have had about 6 dreams about my car. Actually nightmares. Last night, I dreamt that I received a massive door ding in the driver's side door. When I went to work this morning, I had to check it to get some mental relief.

After I bought my car (3 years ago), I had a dream that a massive sink hole formed under my garage and swallowed up my Porsche. The other dreams were all nightmares too. Trees falling on it, accidents etc.

My wife tells me that I need to see a Porsche psychologist.

Am I an outlier or do we all dream about that weird stuff?

ROFL. I am a mental case when it comes to cars, but I gotta show this to my wife and my shrink. I already feel better :)

Kidding aside, no, I do not have positive or negative dreams about my cars, Cayman included.

LMAO. I agree. Ok...got it. I am an outlier.

It sounds like your Porsche was a risky purchase for you and you are subconsciously worried about its impact on your finances. Perhaps you can concentrate on how good your insurance is and alleviate the worry.
Definitely not the case. I paid cash for the car and made it up in the stock market the following month (it was an abnormally good month). :) But I still agree with part of your assessment. This was the second largest check I ever wrote and it was a little nerve racking driving the car for the first time - especially in a foreign country. I think it's related to the fact that I don't want to lose this car because....well it is just perfect. and it was such a personal experience doing the European delivery.

The sinkhole in the garage dream is like the literal embodiment of a money pit lol.

I thought I was going to have to admit my shame in never having dreamt about any of my cars, but thanks to others here, I can sleep well tonight. ;)

(I have dreamt repeatedly about my fantasy driving scenario, even before I was old enough to drive. It's probably how it became part of my favorite driving scenario.)

No bad dreams about accidents etc. although I have had the occasional dream when I discover it missing from the garage.
It may actually run off one day because I don't drive it as much as I should. Will serve me right. Some times in the middle of winter, when my car is in storage in a rented garage, I even forget that I own a sports car. And every spring it is amor all over again.

Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?

Or am I the only one who has that dream? ;)

So last night.....another one.

This time I came out from work (for some reason my car was parked in a parking garage - my work doesn't have that). My tires are flat.

In the interior, the PCM and speakers have been ripped out (stolen). Wires and a mess remain.

More oddly, the steering wheel is missing and so is the ignition assembly. How weird!

I try to start the car by hotwiring it to get it home but then realize this is a bad idea and I call a flat bed to take it to a dealership.

Any psychologist in here?

Planning: 2017 European Delivery of a 2018 Porsche 991.2: (Leipzig, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Stuttgart).

Nope, but this ^ would certainly make me not sleep at night for a long time. Dude! Serbia, B/H ?! In a brand new 911? Keep in mind these are totally out of reach of any EU laws. Then you have Croatia, Romania for a good measure. You really hate color combo you ordered so much that you want it stolen? :D

There, you will not have nightmares about your 981 anymore, you can start with nightmares about ED of your new 991.2 now. :)

You are welcome. Bill is in the mail.

PTSD from your recent encounter with the deer. Stress manifests itself in many ways. I am not a psychologist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn. I know lame.:)
Don't worry about it. And stop thinking too much about Porsches. That may also be it.

I have dreams that include my 350Z fairly frequently. Given that I've had the car quite a while and done all sorts of things with it, it's not surprising that it's worked its way into my dreams.

Somehow I never dream about my cars. Lots of other weird $hit, but never cars. Go figure. I wouldn't mind dreaming about cruising in Porsche.

I've had a reoccurring dream of my TR6 (sold in 1986) for many years. It's always the same: I walk into my garage (which is always immaculate in real life) and see a car parked in the corner under a cover with a lot of "stuff" piled on top. I look and say, "Holy crap! I forgot I still have my TR6!" I remove the stuff, peal off the cover, hop in, and it fires right up! I drive it around (top down) on a beautiful day, the car puffs blue smoke, but otherwise runs great, and I say, "How did I forget I own such a great car, and why don't I drive it? This is so great! I love this car!" Then I usually wake up literally yelling (incoherently) with excitement. Then my wife elbows me and says, "Stop talking in your sleep and stop waking me up!"

That's it. I must have had that dream 30 times. My GTV6 often makes an appearance too, but it's not as frequent, and it's just a cool car that I drive and love. But the story is different each time with the GTV6 just part of the dream rather than THE dream. As of now, the 981 has not made a dream appearance.

I have nightmares about my car being keyed, door knocks, minor scrapes, stolen etc multiple times a week, same as you OP.
Probably not healthy to be this emotionally attached to a lump of metal... I have every single insurance possible, alloy wheel & tyre, GAP and I've spent hundreds of ££ and never once used it lol however it does genuinely help me sleep better at night.

I guess I'm one of the crazy ones since I actually do have dreams involving my car, both good and bad. I never give them much thought - I dream of all sorts of weird stuff all the time. It's not unusual for me to be aware within the dream that I am, in fact, dreaming. So if I crash, I say "let me rewind this" and voila, crash undone, continue happy dreaming ;)

At least once a week. I love my car, why wouldn't it be in my dreams? If its a stressful dream, its usually the car's not where I left it, breaks aren't working and I slow roll into something or its not accelerating fast enough.

I don't actually dream about my car, but when I wake up early, I think about all the things that I want to do to the car, the limiting factors, and what the effect of the changes would do on the track or drag strip --- each and every day.

I have some major suspension work to be done this winter to get the car up at least 1/2 inch further off the ground and keep the negative camber that BGB was able to get with the stock components. Won't help much on the track, but will keep the car healthy as I am grounding it often since it is so low. Compared to the avatar photo, the car is at least 1 inch lower now.
