Both provide more cooling in the 981 as well.

I was considering just using spray on rubber paint to convert the driving lights from chrome to black - easy to undo, or redo.

T-design - thanks for the heads-up on Night Shades (VHT)... I looked them up, and it looks like it's intended more for the lens than the housing... I'm going to ask the guys who will powder coat the wheels black if they can do the fog light housing as well...

General question - is the lower temps in Sport+ only, or also in just Sport? I thought that both provided the lower temps in the 991.1....
Pretty much anything will work for housing that's protected behind the lens, if you lightly sand it. But I think that VHT thing will let you keep some shine for when the light is on, while looking black when the car is parked.

I'm pretty sure both Sport modes run 20F lower temp, at least on my 981. But don't quote me on that. I keep my car in Sport 100% of the time.

Re: New to me 981 CS and Potential Build Options

    Quick update....

I got the GT4 diffuser, AWE wind deflectors and Black 'PORSCHE Cayman S' badges from Suncoasticon... I also found a fellow planet-9er who was selling a fairly new set of Bilstein Pss10, GT3 front sway bar w/drop links, and another with the adjustable rear-bar, so I went ahead and picked those up...

I installed the GT4 diffuser a few nights ago, and it came out looking great - I haven't been able to get good pictures with my phone, but plan to get out the camera and take a few shots tonight... I concur with everyone's experience installing it - the 2 center clips are a pain! If you don't plan on keeping your stock diffuser for future use, it's easier to just rip it off of the center clips... I also forgot to re-install the bracket for the two center bolts from the original, so after getting it all together, I realized I have to take it back apart to insert the bracket, so that added ~30min...

My more immediate next steps are as follows:
    - Hopefully this week install the escorticon Max 360 w/Blendmount and AWE wind deflectors...
    - Between work and the weather here in Chicago, I've been delayed getting it over to my detailer to take care of the film, polish, protection (likely going with C.Quartz), tint and emblems... I hope to get that scheduled and done in the next few weeks...
    - I'm starting to reach out to a few shops in Chicago-land, as I had originally planned to do the suspension/brake work myself, but with time constraints think it will be much easier to have 1 shop do the suspension (Pss10s, sway bars, drop-links, etc), Brakes (caliper/bracket studs, pads, fluid), Center radiator w/Rennline grills... Olsen Motorsports and BILT racing are not too far, and seem to be active Cayman shops... Fall Line is much closer to me, but seem to be more BMW focused?
    - I also had to do some garage re-organization to make my tools more accessible and create some additional room - we've planned to get a shed for a while to hold various equipment and all the kids bikes, etc, but now I need to actually do it, at least once the weather cooperates... Got a nice new rolling tool box, and for now stuffed everyhthing else in our ceiling mounted storage... I also need to get a jack and stands....

    New or outstanding questions:
    - I wanted/needed control arms for camber, but with the coilovers, are they still necessary? How about thrust arms and adjustable toe?
    - Has anybody had experience with Quickjack? It's made by Bendpak, so a reputable lift company, and appears to do exactly what I would want, without the hassle of the 'jackstand dance'... I can also store it out of the way easier than I could with jackpoints, etc...
    - Anybody in Chicagoland with experience / comments about local shops? I go to the Exchange for normal maintenance/warranty work, and may use them for the center radiator/grills, but would like to use a race shop for the rest...
    - I've been recommended 'Signature' forged monoblocks for track wheels, and I'm likely to go that direction... Anyone else here used them? I'd like to get some first hand feedback, and maybe see a few 981s with them on in 18" to finalize design/color... I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with 18x9 and 18x10 and RE-71Rs in 245/40 and 275/35...

First track days here are April/May, so I've got some time but not too much

    Thanks

    Mark

How much do they weight exactly? Usually you'd want lightweight wheels for the track. And OZ and Enkei offer a lot of those.

Fog light housing can be painted with plasti-dip. That's what I did and it matches the black trim perfectly. No need to sand or top coat it.

T-design - ~20lbs per wheel, fully forged so pretty light...

syzdanski - Is there an easy way to get the housing off, or is it full bumper removal? If so, I'll look to have it done while doing the front radiator... I was hoping I could just unscrew the bezel to make it easier...

20lbs isn't exactly light, if that's for 18 size. If you like the looks - a few extra pounds is not important, but if you want every last bit of performance - Enkei RPF1, for example will be in 18lbs range if you can find the right size http://enkei.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/RPF1.pdf , same for O.Z. Alleggerita HLT. Probably for half of the price... Both are reliable companies that's been around for decades.

Depends on the wheel, but the SV104 18x8.5 about 17.9lbs and the 18x10 about 18.9lbs.

Re: New to me 981 CS and Potential Build Options

Sounds right - I just put in the request for weights... The "~20lbs" I saw from a 19x11, so I would expect lighter... Either way, at my skill level, 1 or 1.5lbs isn't going to make the difference...

I spent a lot of time looking at OZ, etc, but they don't have the offsets I wanted in 18x9 and 18x10 - they have close enough in the rear, but are off in the front (and frankly am not a huge fan of the looks of the Alleggrita, which is the closest fit)... And for not much more, I can get fully forged... I do have a significant concern about the company, however, as there is a level of trust/experience/knowledge based off of OZ's or BBS's or Forgeline's experience and broad usage, and I had never heard of 'Signature' before... It does seem like there's a few guys who use them for track work, and a team or two that run them also, but not the broad/deep experience as with the others... Still deciding here.

Re: New to me 981 CS and Potential Build Options

    Another update...

Last week I was able to get the AWE wind deflectors and the blendmount w/mirror tap installed for my Max360, so about done with the first easy bits... Car is going to my detailer tomorrow for partial Xpel removal (a-pillar and front roof), polishing, Cquartz application, tint (20% windows, 70% windshield), black badge install and hopefully black fog light surround (told them not to remove bumper if needed - will do that for front radiator already)... Should have it back in a few days then the easy exterior/interior stuff will be done...

So far, sitting in my home office, I've got a set of Pss10s, GT3 front sway bar w/tarett droplinnks, adjustable rear bar and my Aim SOLO DL... This week I plan to order GT3 front LCAs w/ adjustable thrust bushing, rear droplinks, center radiator kit and wheels/tires... Haven't yet decided on which shop to take it to here in Chicago, but did get a few recommendations...

For the center radiator install, I'm on the fence between having the shop do it, or bringing it in to the Exchange - I'm sure anybody can successfully do the install, but I'm worried about the CPO warranty - wouldn't want to lose the engine warranty out to 2020 to save a few hundred bucks... Anybody have any experience with this? I know warranty laws make it more difficult for the dealer to pass blame, but the hassle likely isn't worth it...

Re: New to me 981 CS and Potential Build Options

Finally got my camera working... A few pictures after getting the GT4 diffuser, AWE wind deflectors, blend mount, tint, paint correction, c-quartz and black emblems installed... I actually ordered the wrong emblem, and ended up with a red 'S'... I figured I'd just install it, and decide once I see it, but I actually kind of like it...

I also just placed an order for what I think will be the remainder of the suspension pieces... Rear drop links for the adjustable bar I already have, GT3 control arm w/adj thrust arm bushing, brake caliper and bracket studs, and wheel studs.... 18" track wheels are on their way, and I've got RE-71r in 245/40 and 275/35 sitting in the storage unit waiting...

Next up are pads and titanium shims, then I'm going to bring it in and get all the work done at once - realized it would take me months to do it myself unless I ignore my wife and kids completely

It'd bother the crap out of me to have the radar detectoricon crooked like that... when there's a remedy. You can drop the detector lower, then adjust the angle so it's still almost flush with the mirror, but flat, rather than angled. Hope this helps.

Re: New to me 981 CS and Potential Build Options

Thanks - I actually didn't even notice until you pointed it out... From outside the car, and looking at it straight on from the drivers seat it looks flat - it is angled slightly towards the driver, which I intend to fix, and I'll level it out at the same time...
