We need something new to obsess over. The debate over builds and options seems to have run out of steam now that so many people are locked in...or maybe we just beat that horse to death. :wall:
The people who GOT their cars already are not really around much. They must be out driving.
I'm even getting bored with the reviews. We know the car is good. They all sound the same. I don't expect to see any long term or instrumented tests for a while to get any real data.
We've even exhausted the topic of how we have been keeping ourselves busy.
I'm here to resign my position in this club effective 20 hours from now, I won't go into details now but all will become clear tomorrow night or Saturday morning. Good luck Adam, you will have my continued support.:burnout:
Well... you can all feel better about your situations knowing there's people out there with solid plans to buy... but will be waiting for YEARS rather than weeks or months.
Coming from someone who modifies EVERYTHING, I'm here to tell you that other than clear bra and painted a couple of trim pieces, I have no desire to modify my car. All my friends are in amazement that I haven't touched it yet.
what's worse is my car is currently sitting in bond at customs, while my dealer waits for the GBP to keep falling before paying taxes... the wait is excruciating!
Just because you confiscated our keys to the Waiters Club Executive Washroom and burned our membership cards when we got delivery doesn't mean we disappeared entirely.
Maybe you can create a new membership status to keep us more active: Waiter Emeritus... or Honorary Waiter... just as long as it comes with a glossy membership card!
I'm still in the early throes of waiter anxiety. Currently PLPROD for 05 April completion and maybe mid May delivery. I need my waiter's anonymous sponsor to call me so that I can get some frustration out and finally sleep. Or maybe I should start a fight club...
Acceleration: Best launch from 4,750 with clutch drop. Won't tolerate any clutch slip from this rpm. Perfect shifter — direct, precise, able to tolerate speed.
It's good to see test sites that actually weigh the car - - - - 3,066 pounds in this case. Now if we only knew what options it came with besides manual transmission and 20 inch Carrera wheels.

Right now, where I live, it's snowing. And that will probably continue for another 4 to 6 weeks. We could obsess about where we'd like to be this time of year with a new 981. Tampa, Maui, etc.?
Bluzpwr, you must be east of the Cascades? You mentioned heading to the big metropolitan area, Spokane or Seattle... if Seattle you could swap snow for rain!
YES sure nothing nicer than a female 981 waiter
how long do you expect your membership to last?
By the way isn't it strange that when we 'femanize' the word it become a proactive service oriented word iso the male one is very passive (couch potato ?!?) .
I managed to get a work trip to London for 3 weeks, which helped pass the time a bit. While I was there I got the news that my car had been built and was in quality control. Made the wait better knowing that even if they delivered it I couldn't drive it until I got back.
Now I'm waiting to hear it has been put on a ship so I can stalk it online.
Have read most of the reviews and seen most of the YouTube clips (of which there are not nearly enough amateur clips) and have bored my wife to death with 'it has this' and 'it has that' comments.
Now I'm just passing the time wondering what will arrive first, my car or my new green card! I have a feeling that Porsche can build a car and ship it half way around the world quicker than the US government can print a piece of plastic!
Put a down payment on a May build BS. Going to do final spec in the next week - for sure PTV, PASM, Sport Chrono. Everything else is still open for interpretation!
It is clear and understandable that everybody want to leave our elite Waiter Club ASAP.
But for the ones who will to upgrade to the Alumni club, a 'thank you post' including a link to their picture post on the sticky 'I took delivery' is the least they an do.
Maybe we should start a thread with the "Waiters Club / Union" suggestions for a set of bylaws for us to operate within. Might give us waiters something else to do?
This is a prewarning that I will cancel my subscription to your elite club.
Today I have seen my new 981 and looks and sounds great and despite my regret of leaving you guys next week, I'm extremely happy to be Cayman #1 in Netherlands and look forward to the Alumni association.

Hang On!!!
I called my local dealer and also the (different) dealer from which I ordered my car. They both confirmed that customer cars can't be delivered before the launch; also that the "launch" cars aren't dealer ordered; they are selected by Porsche. Further, both dealers said P hasn't yet informed them of the official launch date.
The dealer with my order said the build date of their "launch" car is such that they won't probably won't receive the launch car until the 3rd week of April at the earliest.
That's something...I have a text in to my SA to find out. My build date is so early that theoretically my car could be at the dealer by 4/1. Even if it isn't the launch car, it could be at the dealer for a month before I take delivery if I got lucky with a direct boat ride... :wall:
My dealer asked my permission to show my car in the showroom, with the promise that it would be closed. So they don't let people in the car, which I think show the basic respect all dealers should show to their customers, disregard any legal issues.
I finally got the 3D configurator working last night and took a couple screen grabs and created an avatar. I fell in love with the car all over again.
Why does Porsche pick THE most unflattering angles for the car to use for their standard configurator pictures?!? I actually had to work hard to reproduce any bad angles.
I love the subtle curves of the hood- over the wheel wells and the bump in the top center of the hood.
