I am at 3000 miles and whenI start up the standard automatic oil check comes up reading full , or just one bar down, every time. This seems to be in contrast to Porsche's own expectations and the experience of a lot of people here. Anyone else have an 'oil sipper' Cayman or should I stop by the dealer to see if the autocheck is malfunctioning?
1800 miles and mine does the same thing. Must be a small margin of error between full and one bar down. I probably would not add oil until it fluctuates between one bar down and two bars down.
5700 miles and it's 2 bars down, never added any. But lately on hot restarts (like refueling) I've been getting 'check engine oil level' on the dash, so I topped it off today.
I'm at 4400 mi. When I check in the am, same spot, same slop it's 1 bar down. Has been since the beginning and hasn't changed. I ocassionally will see 2 bars if I check it some place else. It' very sensitive to any incline. Consider yourself lucky.
Oil? Was that the black stuff I drained out and pitched for weight savings? Hmmm maybe that lifter needs oil afterall? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/cry_smile.gif
This reading seems to vary quite a bit, mine was all the way on the bottom line (and blinking) when I checked it at the track and by the time I got home and let it sit for an hour it was over half full again.
