Has anyone tried both?
how do they compare power wise?

If I had a dollar for each thread "unmodded X car vs modded Y car?"... Why is everyone so mystified by this? The correct answer is, as Mrd07 pointed out, SRP on a 09.
You are going to have to wait for Softronic - and everyone else, for that matter - to develop new hardware and software products for the DFI motors.

The new systems run on a completely new and different system and DME by Siemens systems or now known as Continental.

From the new tech book:

"A completely new DME control unit EMS SDI 3.1 developed by Continental is used for the DFI flat-six engines. It is designed specifically to meet the requirements for the use of direct fuel injection. Compared to the previously used Bosch ME 7.8 DME control unit, the EMS SDI 3.1 DFI control unit features greater processing power with triple the clock speed and approx. 65% more memory capacity. The special demands for the use of direct fuel injection require significantly more functions and faster data processing. It is particularly injector control during multiple injection and the comprehensive data maps that require great computing power. A voltage of approx. 75 volts is required to open the DFI high-pressure fuel injectors.
This requires 12-to-75 volt DC/DC converters, which are installed in the DME control unit. Some areas on the housings of these voltage converters become very hot. This heat is dissipated via the aluminum cover."
And, with DFI, the intake system will be substantially different as well. I haven't had a look at one yet, but it could be that the present plenums will not be used in a new intake system.

I wouldn't hedge any bets whatsoever on a conventional engine vs. DFI engine shootout, unless we're talking dramatically different states of tune, which in the case of the SRP we're not.

A simple question deseves a simple answer.
1. no
2. similar.

However I can comment that my highly tuned 06 will be faster than a stock 09. Now since I have ordered an 09, I will start my mods as soon as I have run the engine in. After all, I can't trade up to a slower car, can I?
