How to get windows to lower when hatch open?

Hi All,

I spent over an hour with the tech at Porsche trying to find out how to have the windows lower a bit when the rear hatch opens. For those of you don't know this is to let air out when closing the hatch to make it easier to close. I've heard of it being done through the PWIS but we just could not figure out how. Does anyone know where to look in the PWIS in order to get this done?

2 options open to you.
1) Call up local porsche dealership and convince them they should reprogram the car to allow this.
2) Mod4Car Remote Key

I called 3 porsche dealerships close to me and none of them could do this work easily although I am sure if I had asked for it when buying the car I could have bargained them for it.

It would seem that the PIWIS reprogram also brings risk although I doubt an OPC would break the car and not take responsibility for their work

Good Luck!

I am looking into the Mod4Car Remote Key option in the UK. Then I can get a few more things thrown in ...

Perhaps I need to clarify a little here.

What I am after is that the door windows lower slightly when the rear hatch is opened. I have heard of it being done at the dealer.

Rich1221 to address your points:

1. I did go to the dealer and personally spent over an hour with their top tech (a HIGHLY regarded tech here on the forum) and he could not figure out how to do it. We went through EVERY screen we could find and tried a number of different configurations.

2. I have the Mod4Car box and it has no provisions for this window lowering option. Trust me I looked into this too.

Awesome!!! I head down to New Orleans fairly often and I'll make a stop there next time. I've been trying to get the PCM programmed right for a few months and have been unsuccessful at the local dealer. Sounds like you have a good one. Is that tech there on Saturdays?

I had my windows set to lower when rear trunk is activated and side markers to blink programmed today with PWIS. Took the tech 5 minutes and was not charged. I was in there for other work so it was easy for him to do it. Zone 8 McKenna, Norwalk. Very happy with that dealer. Will not go back to Beverly Hills Porsche service again.

I had the windows programmed to go up and down with locking and unlocking the doors either by turning the key in the lock or pressing the lock/unlock button on the remote. I got the instructions from a thread called "Blinking Side Marker Lights".

The instructions were posted in the thread. The instructions to open the windows slightly when opening the hatch were also posted as part of this thread. However, I did not want to do that so I did not have the Porsche Tech try them. But Nick_USA (who posted the instructions) knows what he is talking about, and I am sure if you follow them they will work. The opening and closing of the windows with the key and the remote worked great for me.

I will try to include the link here. Hope it works for you. He posted other PIWIS instructions that may be useful to you also. Good luck.
