Has anyone experienced their key being very sensitive? On several occasions when I put my key in my pocket the doors will unlock or the hood will pop open.
At the beach the other day, when I got up in the morning to go out to my Croc in the parking lot, the hood was open and it had been raining all night. Thank God there was no water in the trunk.
I guess I will need to wait to put the key into my pocket until I'm 500 yards away from the car.

Using PIWIS 16.0, the activation time for the front trunk, hatch lid, and open window commands can be set from 471 ms to 700 ms, or 900 ms ("long") or 1100 ms ("extra-long")
I would post the tsb here, but supposedly that's against copyright law...

Country: | | tsb's can go in the files section as long as the source is identified as Porsche. It is the service manuals that we cannot host.
BTW, this is why people also need the Mods4Cars remote key, solves this problem.  |

Could somebody direct me to a post I read a few months ago that discussed opening the remote and making subtle modifications (mechanical) to the remotes parts to render it less sensitive. I'm not referring to the programming modification discussed above. I searched for this but I found nothing. Thanks in advance. Joe |

Country: | | FWIW, I lived through the sensitive key issue. And after many drives and over 11,000 miles, I find the key to have "worn in", meaning that it behaves properly without being overly sensitive anymore.
I'm sure that key 2 is still sensitive, as it is brand new. If I ever sell the car, the next owner will get to experience the car as new

Country: | | I am picking up my car next Tuesday and sent an e-mail to my sales person asking her to have the service department adjust the activation time before i pick up the car. She sends me a response saying "There will be around a $150.00 charge for the programming you requested on your Cayman. Service wanted to know what form of payment you will be using." So I sent her the TSB, asked her to show it to the service department, and said if they are going to charge not to do it. I will take it to a different dealership. So far I have to say I'm not pleased with the customer service at Braman Porsche. They gave me the best price, but it fells like they are trying to make some back where ever they can before I pick up the car.  |

I can still lock/unlock my car with my key from 75-100 feet away. If your key stops working after moving 5 feet away from the car ("a few steps" couldn't be more than that), then there is something wrong with your key or your car.
Second, we are talking about inadvertent keypresses here, which can happen regardless of whether or not the key is in your pocket.
If this problem was as easily fixed by your recommendation, why is there a TSB out on it?

I think the best solution is to cure the key of it's hair trigger; take a look at the download titled "Key Modification" available by clicking on the heading " FILES" at the top of the page.

After finding mine unlocked outside the office twice and once at South Coast Plaza mall lot, we tried to lock/unlock at various distances. Mine still works 4 BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE CAR!!!! I did have Porsche Tucson change to 1100 ms, and I don't notice a difference when I push the key, but haven't found it unlocked since then.
BTW, I got the MODS4CARS module with the original group buy but have been too chicken to install it....

I would think that your dealership shoud fix the key somehow, someway without charge to you. Obivously it is a key problem, so why should any of us be responsible to fix it, or pay to have it fixed?

Doobydarby | Your local dealership WILL fix it for free, there's a TSB out for this problem.
Some people choose to install the Wilhelmy-IT solution, which not only fixes the problem but adds some other features.
