You're going to love it!
I'm happy to announce that after thorough research of this site, exhaustive efforts browsing online ads daily and intense negotiations with a dealership, I'm about to be the proud new first time owner for a 2008 Porsche Boxster S (manual of course!).
This vehicle has 2k miles, PCM 3.0 nav system, 19" rims, color matched interior of the cars color, all the other little options that really drive the price up. Includes a 6 year 100k warranty (1 year is burned off already).
All for the nicely negotiated price of $47491 out the door! A lot of arguing ensued once we haggled the price down to this and I announced it as the out the door price, but the dealership caved (although they did scold me a bit).
Unfortunately, I'm still deployed so this little gem will be shipped to my garage and sit there until my return in Sep. Guess what I'm doing on my 2 weeks of R&R!!!
I appreciate all the posts on this site as they largely contributed to my understanding of what I wanted in a vehicle, what was available and what an acceptable price was.
Thanks for the info!!!

I love these cars!!!
PCM 3.0? How did you get that on an '08 model?
2. Pics of the interior!!
3. a suggestion: Pick up some clear side markers. They're fairly inexpensive and look really sharp. On a red car, the stock yellow ones look wrong to me.

Welcome to the club. My car is also in Guards Red. It is an awesome color. You sure will attract a lot of attention, albeit not necessarily desired attention. I was occasionally followed by highway patrol once they spotted a red sport car.
Guards Red is a relatively high maintenance color, just a little better than black. If you have not done so, you probably should start shopping for good car washing and detailing supplies.
Enjoy the ride of your new fabulous car.

Congratulation on your beauty. Stay safe and hope you'll have a great time when you get home.
Beautiful car, congratulations.
God bless your safe return home.

Those look like Cayman style wheels. They are normally 18" not 19". You might want to check.
Appreciate the military service, come back safe. Enjoy the car!
Having fun in Puerto Rico
I appreciate all the comments/concerns.
The options that I was adamant about during my search were S model, 19" rims, manual transmission, Bose stereo. Native navigation was not mandatory since I read the threads on aftermarket units that looked incredible and were definitely viable options.
I confirmed with the dealer twice that the vehicle had following specific options:
1. 19" Cayman S rims. (shout out to the Cayman Brethren)
2. PCM 3.0 (I thought 3.0 was only availabe on 2009-higher models as well)
3. 100k warranty (most warranties I'd seen were only 3 year/ 50k miles)
Personally at this point, I love the rims on the car and if it turns out to be PCM 2.0, I can always go aftermarket. The only things I need to install on the car are XM radio and iPhone cradle.
I'll definitely read up on the best cleaning products and wax (no autozone specials!) to keep this car looking pristine. Too bad my poor truck is getting kicked out of the garage but the Porsche will now get the primary spot alongside my sportbike!
Congrats! You will love the car. Those definitely are 18" wheels. I have the same ones on my Cayman S.

With PCM you can get some aftermarket solutions for satellite radio. I have NavTV with SiriusConnect, which integrates Sirius into my PCM interface and the antenna is on the plastic cowl in front of the wipers, very unobtrusive.

"He who dies with the most toys is, nonetheless, still dead."
I appreciate everyone's input. After emailing the dealer again to verify and send me the invoice, his reply email stated that he was 100% sure it had PCM 3.0 and unfortunately only had 18" rims. While I can accept the rims (i like the style), I did some more research on the PCM issue.
PCM 3.0 = touchscreen no keypad to the left.
PCM 2.1 = no touchscreen, keypad to the left.
I'm sure the more experienced and knowledgeable people in this forum can guess which one the car actually has. I emailed pictures to the dealer of both and demanded an answer basically saying that if he's 100% sure that the car has PCM 3.0 and I negotiated the price based on that, then he's obligated to put PCM 3.0 in the car.
I'm in no hurry to purchase a car and I feel that either the dealer will put PCM 3.0 in (I don't care the hassle as I've read up on the issues in other threads) or drop the price of the car more. I cann always cancel the deal and get my deposit back! I've still got 90 days in the desert to continue searching for the right car with the right options for me!
Attaboy, hold their feet to the fire! Hope you have a safe return.
After poking the dealer in the chest a bit via email about PCM 3.0 and my demands for the invoice on the car, I've heard nothing in two days. As I'm very patient, I'm not making any demands as of yet but am still actively looking for other subsitutes. None have my attention as much as this one yet!
Can anyone fill me in on PCM 2.1 options and functionality? Will I be satisfied once the intial setup is done? Or is it that irritating to deal with? I currently have an aftermarket GPS in my truck and on my motorcycle that is touchscreen and extremely easy to use.
