    cayman for tall people?

Ive been reading a bunch of old threads but there is nobody that is of acctual length, so I'm wondering how well you who are 6'5"+ can sit in the car. And if you think it would be possible for me to fit in a cayman. I'm 6'9".

I would say "no", without a lot of seat rake angle. I'm 6'2" and have about 1" of head room. With a helmet, for the the track, my head hits.

I sat in the new 981 Cayman and had much more room in it. So, find a dealer and go check it out for yourself, but it doesn't bode well for someone of your stature.

I am 6'1" and it is just right for me. The seat is all the way back an steering wheel is all the way forward. My brother is 6'6" and he does not fit in the driver's side to be able to drive it.

6'6" and fit in 987's nicely. Owned two over 8 years. Have a 34" inseam btw.

981 has more room in all aspects. Try one as suggested before. It may be close. Get a Boxster as headroom is unlimited.

Make sure you really take time to adjust the seat, especially the height option. I'm 6'0 and just fit as a daily driver, prefering as much recline as I can get. (Wish there was another inch or two behind the seat back!) Most interestingly the power seats do not offer any additional adjustment range options over the manual seats, with the exception of bolster adjustments it's just a matter of function preference.

Hello, fellow taller . I'm 6'3", 34" inseam, and the headroom in my 2009 Cayman is fine, it's the legroom that was the big adjustment - I have the steering wheel moved all the way towards me, and my legs/knees have Just enough room to comfortably work all three pedals.

Best advice is as above, go drive some for ~20 minutes or so, enough to get sort of used to it and start to notice any discomforts. I hope you fit in one, they're tremendous cars!

One of the few times this 6'0 boy wishes he was shorter! My 5'5 friend sat in my car with the seat adjusted for me and had enough room to swim in it! Wish I had that luxury! Although I will say the 981 car is more comfortable than expected.

Generally speaking, Germans are not short people, ja?

Hi, I'm 6'-4" with 34" inseam. I have about 3" of extra headroom, so that is no issue at all. It is a little tight on the legroom but there is about 1/2". That doesn't sound like much but it's pretty normal for most of my cars. I could increase the legroom if I chose to raise the seatback to a more vertical position, which would let me move the seat backwards. But I choose to sit low and reclined. I don't understand how ordinary six-footers could have a space problem. I think you just have to sit in the car yourself and play around with the adjustments.

FYI, I had a 986 Boxster and that one was a problem. Yeah, it has "unlimited headroom" but the 986 version has a seatback that is too short. I could fit in it and drive it, but because the seatback was so short, my head would hit the roll bar instead of the seat if I had been in an accident. I think the 986 is unsafe for tall people, and I suspect that's why the 987 has MUCH taller seatbacks. Compare the seatbacks! The 987 Boxster is much safer, and of course the Cayman is safer yet.

If you really think space is an issue, the new 981 seems to have even more space, particularly more legroom.

    NO

I often ponder sports cars for the big guys (I'm 6'4" 230lbs).. If you're willing to suffer for the joy of a canyon carver you can make any car work but realistically it's not worth it imo. I absolutely LOVE my spyder but even I'm at the upper limits of the car. my line of sight directly lines up with the top frame of the windshield and even though I have a tilting telescoping steering wheel the steering angle is just slightly below "perfect". Having said that, I'm SURE you could always get a custom seat mount to put you lower in the car...

Drive one and see. I'm 6'5" and don't have any issues and regularly drive it 3-4 hours at a stretch. However that extra 4" is huge. Plus I can think of a better way to spend a few hours - making sure I fit into a Porsche! Good luck

That's what she said. ba dum bump

Nuc- you might want to try a 911 as there's more room to lay the seat back.
