Forum members should be warned that TresX falsely attributed an offensive quote to me in one of his posts, then instead of being a stand up man did not respond to my PM asking for him to change it and then in a later post denied any knowledge of it altogether. Only when called out did he admit it but still thought it was o.k. For me this calls into question all of his previous posts. I hope the chuckle was worth the loss of his reputation. For anyone who thought those offensive words came from me they did not. I guess I'm disappointed at this because of my view of our mature community.
I can confirm what Santa Fe says. TresX wrote an extremely nasty attack using a lot of defamatory terms. This hate-filled message was an unwarranted attack against certain individuals on this board. As I mentioned in the "Manual vs. Automatic" thread, I have a copy of that hate-filled diatribe. Per decorum, I won't post it here. He later removed this attack from that thread. Later attributing similar text to Santa Fe is disgusting and he treats his actions like a joke. I would ask that such behavior be censured and would request that calmer heads on this board take a stance that we, as a community, will not tolerate hate-speak, insults to other members and other such uncivil activities. I for one will not respond to any further postings of TresX and I suggest that the community shun all hate-mongers such as he.
SF...dont sweat the trolls. They never seem to stick around for the most part anyway... I can think of several others that have popped up, but eventually left. It is sad, but remember, most car forums out there have an average age of what....17. Wont mention any...cough...6speedonline...cough, cough....
You have an overwhelming excellent rep on this forum and one little troll wont ruin it. cheers.
Yeah - get rid of that guy. One of my favorite things about CC is that the vast majority of people are civil. And you have to be a major a-hole to attempt to pick on SF as he seems to be one of the people that sets the civil tone here and makes it such a nice place.
Santa Fe, I might have not read all 3.5K posts you have made, but I have read enough of them to know who you are and what opinions you have.
Now doctoring quotes... well, I have been a member of many many forums... no one ever forged quotes. So this is a first one for me to observe.
Santa Fe, though I haven't read any of that person's posts, I have certainly read many of yours. Judging only by that, I feel safe in saying that you are a gentleman and a mature, thoughtful, decent guy. As such, I will gladly vouch for you, said posts unread.
As others have replied, let's not feed the troll. Yours is a special situation because you're a moderator as well as a community member. But really, I can't imagine that any of us would have been fooled by a random hateful person.
I look forward to our continued participation in CC together. It will be my pleasure.
SF, no need to explain. You are one of the backbones of this community.
I am all for fun ' games, joking around, and heated debate on forums (otherwise they would become just tombs of information) BUT "fabricating" quotes in other peoples names is just wrong, and way over the line! Plus a little creepy
In my short time here I have come to know you as one of the most mature and civil members of the Cayman Club. I for one know that you wouldn't post anything like that.
I find it personally offensive that this guy would put such words in your mouth. And I also find it personally offensive how he responded to hsjb when he very kindly advised him to change his tone. As you recal, he basically told him that he was going to be ignored.
I think he needs a little time out. In the meantime, while that's being discussed, I will be deleting every post he authors that even comes close to the line. No one messes with our buddy Santa Fe.....!
Just as an FYI TresX's account is being suspended for a period of time and depending on how he serves out his suspension will depend on what ultimately happens with his account here. I reviewed his posting history and except for this last episode he has had valid questions and chimed in on some threads and recently picked up his car. We all make mistakes and I am hopeful that he will realize his mistake, apologize for it, and become and active and civil member of the community again, if not, we'll politely show him the door.
K-Man S: I spend a lot of time in this forum because I like it here, and I have an awful lot to learn about Porsche and Cayman (I just read the Radio Manual - things are getting out of hand when it takes 20 pages to describe how to use a radio).
I don't need my time wasted by a crank like TresX; that fabrication of a post was inexcusable. If I were referee, I'd toss him out of the league, not just the game.
