    New Cayman Roll Bar Available!

    Hey Fellas,

We've been hard at work building the products that you've asked for! I would like to introduce the newest product available through Hergesheimer MotorSports from Lucas Fab Industries. The new Cayman roll bar is the answer for the track enthusiast looking for some actual rollover protection, not just a harness bar.

    Specs:

    * Constructed of 1.75" diameter, 0.95 wall thickness, 4130 Chromolly steel
    * Beautifully welded by hand in Southern California
    * True race cage main hoop and diagonal for roll over protection
    * Complete bolt in installation and removal using factory mounting points
    * Slight carpet trimming for snug fit.
    * Available in raw steel or standard powdercoat colors
    * Removable rear down tubes and rear diagonal with motorsport couplers
    * Introductory pricing is $2395 including black or white powdercoat. (Raw steel -$100)

Fits all Cayman models from 2005-2012!

Contact me for orders. Dealer inquiries welcomed. We also have two Cayman harness bar options available if you're looking for something more subtle.

Eric, looks nice. What are the differences on the Gen 2 that make this specific to Gen 1 cars? Will this work with the factory sports seats without creating potential head injuries on the street?

Wow! Looks incredible. Very clean welds and great finish. Looks good and is functional (allows access to the engine bay).

    Awesome work HRG!

Thanks Ron. I would really like to fit one into a Gen 2 to make sure, but I don't know of any reason it wouldn't. I would offer a discounted bar to a member that wouldn't mind us using their car as the first Gen2.

The potential head injuries with a bar in your car can occur if the seat back breaks in half. This bar would be no different than having the stock boxster bar behind your head, or a clubsport bar in a 911 delivered in Europe. I do suggest using this bar with track seats for best fit and function however. The seats pictured are at the very rear seating position for someone well over 6'.

The complete bar with fasteners weighed in at 46lbs.

In the car pictured, we lost 49 lbs by changing the seats to the lightweight Recaro Pole Positions. So we lost 3 lbs overall with the install.

Re: New Cayman Roll Bar Available!

My car was used as the prototype for this bar and I have to commend HRG and Lucas Fab on doing an amazing job. The fit and finish on the bar are top notch.

The idea for this bar came up at our last POC event when there were about 6 CSX (Cayman Spec) guys at the event and we began to talk about safety and roll over protection. Without taking anything away from whats available out there in the market, this bar was designed with this in mind. For me personally, I gained 2 seconds off my best lap time this past weekend. I would attribute some of this improvement to becoming better as a driver, feeling more confident in pushing the car because I have some protection now, and being held in place better with the new equipment. Hergesheimer did a really good job with the install as the car performed flawlessly all weekend. Thanks Eric!

I'm going to take some up close pics this weekend, and post here.

Nice looking rollbar . . . How, and to what do the main hoop base plates attach? Does it require drilling through the floor pan?

Thanks. The main hoop base plates attach to the factory Boxster roll bar studs on the rear bulkhead. The Cayman's come with these studs already installed. There is absolutely no drilling required. I personally don't like the idea of bars mounting to the floor pan.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware that those rollbar mounting points already existed in the Caymans.

Re: New Cayman Roll Bar Available!

Sorry, can only post 3 at a time. The top of the bar to the headliner of the car is about a finger and a half gap... I can't get 2 fingers in there as you can see in the picture below.

Re: New Cayman Roll Bar Available!

The bar has a total of 6 couplers. This allows the removal of the diagonal bar and both side bars in the rear to be removed for easy access to the upper engine cover. The main hoop can also be loosened and tilted forward for access to the engine from behind the seats (without the complication of removal of the entire main hoop from the car).

Re: New Cayman Roll Bar Available!

a few more, just trying to get you guys as many angles as possible. harder to do now with the seats in. Eric and a number of other guys in the club recommended OEM manual seat rails, I found some on Ebay for a reasonable price. They work great, don't get stuck like some aftermarket ones I had in a previous car. I'm very happy with them. The 2nd pic is through the side mirror thus some glare. Please direct any sales related questions to Eric at Hergesheimer.

Gobynetwork, I'm assuming you drive a Cayman S? Have you brought her out to any POC events yet?
