I reckon that's just about the only good supplier people here have found. Certainly it's the only supplier that seems to have matched the dashboard of the later Porsche cars.

Shipping for a piece of plastic is not going to cost you much is it? $25 according to the eBay site. I've considered making one but obviously risk spoiling the show - of course the Japanese guy knows that. I'm in the UK and since it's charged in dollars is a much better deal after the bottom dropped out of the dollar last year.

Why not do it yourself? Will only cost a few dollars to try and if you succeed you'll make yourself a fortune on this site alone.

How about this: 2-Din Bezel, etc. on Ebay

It's also listed by TresX in the Classifieds on this website.

I've got a spare CDR-24 that I will be using to make a handful Faceplate / bezels.

I'll write up the process / photos as I start/work through it starting after I finish my technical meetings for work this week.

I just can't see spending that much money for a piece of plastic for the radio.

So pretty much you take the stock cdr24 and cut it to fit the 7+/- inch screen on a double din system? The face just comes off? How do you mount the radio? Most kits, but I see even the Japan one doesnt, usually have places to mount the actual radio.

I realise the cost difference, but seems a shame to sacrifice the CDR24 in case you want to return it to the vehicle in future. Does anyone know if these faceplates be bought from Becker or Porsche?

    Thats a good idea.

You can buy a cdr24 for around 120ish on ebay if you ever need to return it. The prices will probally go down in the future also.

There must also be people with faulty CDR24's that would sell for whatever they can get.

Yea, you can find some broken/used online. I found a working used radio online and will take the faceplate off.
I don't want to just hack into it as that is a waste of a good radio. I'm taking my time with it so I'll be making a mold of it so that I can then make a duplicate.
Once I have a duplicate i'll hack that one and then sand/paint it.

As far as mounting the actual radio, that shouldn't be too hard. Thats relatively simple construction to hold something in place.

Sounds a good way to go. Lot of work involved isn't there?

    its not too bad..

i made one a while back when i put a computer into my RSX for data logging / gps and made extras for fellow mp3car folks..

it gives me something to do while there's snow out and allows me to upgrade the radio at th same time for mp3 cd's

Making a good mold so that i can replicate the org dash piece will be the hardest as if it has flaws then that will require more post work on finishing / sanding.

Only tough part now is figuring out if i can fin the stock granite/silver paint in a spray can, or if i should just paint the whole radio/ac section in artic silver to spruce up the interior.

Any one know the stock silver color?
or anyone have photos of stone grey interior/midnight blue ext and touched up interiors with silver/or blue?

    thanks

i'll keep everyone posted as i make progress.

Outside, think you've picked-up on a really old post but there are cheaper alternatives now such as this one from Connects2.

Or you can buy it from Suncoasticon now.

Suncoast Porsche, Audi, & VW: Double DIN Radio Trim (for aftermarket radio)

This is a year old thread apparently haha. Oh well, doesn't hurt to update it. =)

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel, where can I buy it??

I've used the Euro Motorspeed kit and the gray matches very well to the factory color.

That kit also includes a harness for most of the connections you need behind the radio and also an antenna adapter.

The kit appears to be made right here in the US.

Do you know whether you can actually buy them in the US?
