    PCM System Error

My recently purchased (12/08) CPO'd '07 CS had an OEM Cayenne XM radio installed by a third-party almost 3 months ago. All has been well until early this morning. Temperature was around 50 degress or so with humidity about 70%. Upon inserting the key the PCM 2.1 screen lit up as usual and was followed by the following:
"System Error: Amplifier, NAV system, .... are not functioning..." or something to that effect. I re-inserted the key but received the same message. The tuner was still working because the PTY info still displayed on the screen and tach. However, pressing the 'AM/FM' button to scroll through the radio modes (AM<->FM<->XM), XM was not recognized and it only toggled AM<->FM back and forth. I was going to take a photo but when I got to work, turned off the car, got out, LOCKED THE CAR via FOB, forgot to take the picture, UNLOCKED the car, and inserted the key, the stereo came on as usual. Now I have what looks to be the beginnings of an intermittent computer problem.
Any ideas on what's going on here ? Seems like XM might have something to do with it since it was not being recognized. I wonder if locking and unlocking the car might have reset the computer more than just re-inserting the key ? Thanks for your help.

    Re: PCM System Error

    A couple of things:

If you press MAIN and TRIP together what does it show?

You maybe able to reset the system by disconnecting the battery, but be aware you will also have to teach the Windows, PSM and DME after you do this.

The windows you will need to lower and raise whilst continuing to hold the buttons. The PSM will require a 90 degrees to the left, to center, 90 degrees to the left then drive the car forward; Both these can be achieved in driving around the block. The DME throttle position is a simple process of turning on the ignition and leaving it for 30 seconds before you start the car.

Did you ever fix this? My CS did the same thing 2 days ago. I am trying to determine what to do.

    Re: PCM System Error

Had the same thing happen to me last week. Went to the dealer & they had to replace the entire PCM. Turns out there was a problem with the unit since day 1, because once the new PCM was installed I heard sounds I had never heard before. The sound quality improved 100%. I can now actually hear highs & lows.
