Country: | | | Escort GB Participation Attention all Escort Group Buy participants: I need your help. Escort worked very closely with us on our recent group buy, but this sort of promotion is very unusual for them. I would like to show them that partnering with Planet Porsche was a good idea and that we should consider more promotions like this in the future. It would help if I could provide them with some participation metrics.
If you took advantage of our group buy or if our recent product review led you to purchase an Escort product, even if it wasn't through one of our GB providers, please place a vote in this poll. If you've purchased more than one of the same model Escort product, please vote once and PM me with the details. I will enter your additional vote(s).
Thank you in advance for your help.

Country: | | | Re: Escort GB Participation Additional Disclosure:
At another forum, I was accused of working for Escort or profiting in some way from my product review. This is somewhat understandable, because my work really was professional in quality, so I guess I should be flattered. Flattery aside, I would like to openly address this, just in case anyone here suspects the same thing.
My product review was completely voluntary. I decided to purchase the 9500ci after I saw it at the 2008 CES show (January 2008), many months before it was available for purchase. I bought my 9500ci in January 2009, and offered to review the product as a benefit to our sponsor, Escort.
I did receive a discount, but this discount was not given as compensation for for anything. I work in the mobile electronics industry and have access to most 12 volt products at a discount. That's just one of my job perks. I would have received this discount regardless of whether or not I reviewed the product.
I have received no financial or other form of compensation in exchange for my review. I receive no portion of any sales, or of any sponsorship fees paid by Escort or any sponsor. I am a volunteer. My enjoyment is all the reward I need, which to me is substantial.
Those of you that know me, know that this car is my hobby and that I need no compensation for sharing my experience. I'm living my own dream, tinkering with my car and sharing my experience with you. To others that don't know me, rest assured, there are no secrets or hidden agendas with Gator Bite. I'm a passionate Cayman owner that loves to experiment and share what I've learned.

Country: | | | Re: Escort GB Participation Knowing you personally, that thought never even entered my head. I'd like to thank you, once again, for setting up the group buy. I love my unit. It has alerted me numerous times about radar. Even in my other car, I heard the anouncement, "ka band" coming from right next to me in the passenger seat. |

Was very tempted by the 9500ci but did not have the spare time to drop off the car and wait for installation. The group buy was perfect timing. |

The other thing that the GB and review did that isn't reflected in the poll is put Escort back on the map for me after they lost my business to Valentine sometime back when they just didn't have it. This after trying their best detector at the time. It's been a while but at the time the V1 was about as far ahead of Escorts' best as it appears now that the 9500 is ahead of the V1. Some things just don't stand still.

Mark | You can select more than one. If you bought two of the same unit, post some detail and I will add the second vote for you. |

Frankly I think you should be compensated by Escort. You provided in-depth analysis with data to backup you statements. Isn't that what a professional does?
Good on you for all your hard work. I for one appreciate the time and effort you put into your posts.

I am currently at the2009 Porsche Parade in Keystone, and we drove over 1200 miles to get here. The Escort unit picked up all forms of electronic surveillance, X, K, Ka, Pop, and Laser, and I am convinced it allowed me to travel the distance without incident.

I can certainly see your point and hers, but if I cross that line my credibility will change. I'd transition from 'neurotic independant Cayman owning product tester' to 'paid shill'.
I'm not saying I wouldn't accept compensation for my work, and moving forward I may consider this to make more tests possible (I only have so much money to spend on discretionary products). But if I do, I will be honest and up front with you. There are too many shills in the forum community already. |

Also researched other sites and all highly praised the ci.
However, I would not have bought the unit without the group buy pricing!

Looks like Escort wants to measure the traction of their club efforts. Please enter to win a 9500ci. By doing so, not only do you stand to win a very expensive cool detector, you also send the message that their partnership with Planet Porsche was a smart move (make sure you let them know you heard it here).
Go get em. I'd love to see one of our club members win this. I entered. I could use another two of these. One for my wife's car, one for my DD. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
