    CDC-4 Installation Instructions

    Hello,

Was pointed to this forum by a friend for some help. I purchased a cdc-4 6 disk changer on ebay and the proper cable from Suncoasticon and hoped to install it myself. However, I haven't had any luck finding some instructions (hopefully) with some diagrams that will assist me. Did a search here and found a thread that mentions a TSB with the info I'm looking for but the link to the download comes up empty. Can anybody hook me up?

If this makes any difference, I have an 08 Boxster S LE with Bose but no nav.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: CDC-4 Installation Instructions

Look in the articles section. That install is very easy. need to plug in the new extension loop (should have three ends) into the cable behind the brake booster. You'll have to run one cable down to the Bose amp, one behind the booster, and the last over to the cd changer. It can only fit one way and reach all the parts. You'll have to splice into some wires on the passenger side immediately next to the compartment to power the changer. It shouldn't take more than an hour or two.

By the way, the install is almost identical for the Dension kit for someone that didn't have a cdc4. You'll find those articles too.

    Re: CDC-4 Installation Instructions

Well, the install is on hold.

I took the plastic cover off the frunk and placed the changer in the appropriate location. It was a bit too wide. Oh-oh.

The serial # told the story. It's 996.645.140.02. I checked with my local dealer and they said I needed a 997.645.140.03 for an 08 Box. Not sure why Porsche / Becker would make 2 different sized versions of a changer and call them both CDC-4. The parts guy said it was difficult to say how many models and what yrs the 996 model fits, but it doesn't fit mine.

It would be easy to blame the seller for being deceitful or maybe I should say less than truthful, but I believe in taking ownership for your actions. I should have done more research. Caveat emptor.

So now I need to sell the 996 and locate a 997. Cross your fingers...

    Re: CDC-4 Installation Instructions

I too, am looking for the install instructions. Can't find them in the ARTICLES section and I've been all through it. Can you provide a link to the instructions?

Installing a 997.645.140.03 CDC-4 off Ebay into an 2008 Boxster S. Just have the unit and bracket, no additional cabling. Anyone have a part number for the 'extension' cable?

    TIA

The cable # is 997.622.712.00 for a Bose & no nav.

If you have a different combo, contact Suncoasticon and they'll hook you up.

How much did you pay for your changer? Seems the only ones for a late model Box (997) on ebay were held by the dismantlers and they all wanted $350-$400.

Still wanting to sell mine (996.645.140.02) for $175.

Thanks! Appreciate the part number, I'll call Suncoast. I paid $ 170 for mine off EBAY, plus $ 15 shipping.

    Re: CDC-4 Installation Instructions

OK, I purchased the changer from Krok and I'm ready to take another swing at it. The wiring doesn't sound too difficult, but I'm a bit confused on the source wire and how I should do that. The wire loom came with a splice T junction but nothing else. Do I need a plug for the changer for the juice? Is there a cable I could order from Porsche that would plug in correctly for both ends?

drcollie, did you get your changer installed? Any chance of getting a pic? I'd send you a PM but you don't accept them.

    Thanks.
