Euro Motorspeed Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit

Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit:Porsche Parts & Porsche Accessories - Wholesale Porsche Parts & Tequipment

I just got my 2006 Cayman S, I was wondering if anyone had tried this system. It looks like it will work with all the factory radio options.

    Thanks everyone,

Here are the details of the kit:
    Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit

If you've considered an aftermarket sound system, it can be an intimidating option. If left to an untrained audio technician, your entire dash and dash wiring could be destroyed. We have partnered with Euro Motorspeed, and we're proud to be a distributor of their fine products. Offering plug and play connections for double DIN radios, and a mounting system with PERFECT fit and finish. Their systems are fully compatible with all original sound packages, including BOSE and Sound Package Plus. Plug and play! For most systems, no wire modifications are required.

Complete 9X7 Custom 2 DIN Kit Includes:
    - Trim Bezel - Matched to Factory Volcano Grey (also available in semi gloss black for 2009-2012 9X7 vehicles)
    - Includes stainless steel mounting clips for simplified and secured bezel attachment
    - Complete with speed sensor & illumination wires, factory harness & radio antenna adapters, wire taps, solder shrink connectors and nylon cable straps
    - Housing brackets designed for proper installation into factory opening - Featuring spring loaded secure locking mechanism & built-in guide rails
    - Instruction Manual Included
Additonal options for cars with BOSE:
    - $795. Optional BOSE integration kit - If you would like to add a new radio, but keep your BOSE sound system, this kit is the answer. Adds a few more pieces and control units to allow for a seamless integration of your new radio and the orignal BOSE amplifier.
    - $275. Optional BOSE removal kit - If you are adding a new radio, but removing your BOSE amplifier, this kit will come with additional hardware to remove the BOSE amplifier.
Compatible With Most Double Din Head Units, but ideal for these models:
    - Kenwood - All 2 DIN Models (Motorized & Non Motorized)
    - Pioneer - All 2 DIN Models (Motorized & Non Motorized)

I just got that kit, will be having it installed later this week. I did a lot of research out here on the various forums, and that seems to be the kit that everyone goes with on the 987.1/987.2 cars. It's sold on eBay by the actual vendor or you can buy it through Suncoastparts.com as well (that's what I did).

Re: Euro Motorspeed Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit

I purchased this back in March along with a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS from Euro Motorspeed. Since I purchased the head unit from them along with the installation kit, they kindly soldered the connections before sending it. This made installation a breeze.

Most likely due to the 4 volt pre-outs to the amplifier, there was a great improvement in the sound from the stock speakers. While not the best car audio sound I've ever heard, the sound improvement is well worth the price in order to avoid ripping the car apart to install an aftermarket head-unit, amplifier, speakers and sub. The radio now sounds like something one would expect in a luxury car with the more expensive radio option.

Additionally, one must factor in the outstanding support you will receive from Euro Motorspeed.

Re: Euro Motorspeed Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit

Many of us on this site have bought this kit. It's relatively simple to use. Euro Motorspeed provides excellent service if you have questions about how to wire it.

It's still time consuming to remove the old radio, but that can't be helped no matter what upgrade path you choose. Once you remove the old radio installation with this kit is quite easy.

Personally I think the Bose system with this kit and a modern head unit sounds quite good, though to some degree that's because a modern HU will have a decent multi-band equalizer. It's an automobile, not an ideal audio environment, so personally I'm good with using an equalizer.

I just got an Alpine head unit installed today using the Euro Motorspeed kit. The installer I used commented that the kit was very well done and easy to use. Here's a pic of the completed upgrade, as well as the USB/iPod connector I had them wire back to the center console storage area.
