It's not an ECU; looks like it just tries to modulate the signal coming from a temperature sensor...

Would you trust a $60 chip in your $50k+ car? I would not.

By "up to 50hp" I would guess that they mean 0hp

Don't forget one of those rotating tin cans inside your air intake to charge your intake and get you supercharger like performance for $9.95 while you are at it too!

That would be the Vortec Cyclone™ for those interested in this mod.

You guys piss me off when you are being so negative without having any proof.
I agree that sometimes things seem to be too good to be true, but surely someone has tried these chips and can make a VALUE judgment based on experience instead of rhetoric. Has someone actually tried this chip out and what are the results?

Re: PCD Performance Chip - $60 to good to be true?

There is a reason why everyone is so negative about this one.
Even the near $1000 Softronicicon flash can't promise you +50hp/+50tq...

This PCD performance chip that OP noted looks and sounds VERY similar to SLR Motorsports Chip .. and what is SLR Motorsports Chip? Take a look at this link Anyone install an SLR Motorsports Performane Chip?

and you can find these chips all over the ebay...

No one wants to see another enthusiast’s car damaged by using an unknown product, there is no proof as to it doing any good either. At face value all we can see is an outrageous claim of power gained.

Which leads most of us to the conclusion:

........the saying goes there is one born every second.........we jump to these quick conclusions without proof just as the advertiser jumps to their conclusion that they can add horsepower.......... the only way to find out is to buy one and try it......

Sometimes thinking is better than trying. For example, do you believe that a bullet coming out of a revolver that is pointed at your head is something you actually want to try?

Based on instructions and internet research you can decide if you want to try this. I am not going to use a dumb dial to affect IAT or potentially AF signal going into my cars computer. Especially since I do not have other tools to measure effects.

Apologies for spelling mistakes, most of them are keyboarding errors. To enjoy this forum I run out of time to proof read.

Naw, that chip is good, together with clear side markers good for .2 secs off of your 1/4 mile.
