Mods for your Cayman R?

With so much idle time on my hands while waiting for my R, I've been thinking about what mods I'll be making. Much depends on how the car feels as delivered but tire change, ss brake lines & more powerful brake pads will be my first mods. Wondering what others are planning.

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

hi there...

my first mods will be pads and the gt3 brake ducts... and I will aligne the wheels (adjust camber at front + rear...)

As I live in Germany and need TÜV approved tyres, I am going to swop the factory RE050A for PZero Trofeo, but probably after I finished off the factory's RE050A... [which I think will be on the car when delivered] ... Would love to take NT01s or similar, but over here they arent street legal ...

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

MIne arrived today, Saturday, 9 April. Mods will be clear side markers, and possibly GT3 brake ducts (want to see what they have now). It will have about -2 degrees camber as part of the prep. Pickup is Thursday, 14 April. Can't wait. Ed

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

Have you guys considered the GT2 brake ducts and fender liners? More pricey, but you have a Cayman R so she'll deserve the best! Krokodil moved up from a set of GT3 ducts and I will do the same once mine wear out... or break off

I'd love to take the Gt2 ones..

but dont know whether they would work while driving on the Nordschleife (where I'll drive most of the time)... reckon they wouldnt even last one lap as I would have destroyed them after I would have been driven through the Karussell and Schwalbenschwanz...

so I guess that means ----> the gt3 ducts for me

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

I'm curious about how much camber is available with the R spec suspension (hopefully enough to dial in at least -2*). Forgot, going to add a Braille lightweight battery to offset the wt. of the AC.

Read that GT2 ducts have clearance issues; whats your experience been Cayman-Sense? Is it possible to connect hoses to the GT3 ducts?

Quite a list 2slow2speed. Are you planning on tracking yours?

Max OEM capability appears to be -1°07' front and -2°07' rear from the paperwork I've seen.

Not planning to track the R at all, it is going to be a garage queen, just like my previous car that you see on the avatar cruising down the typical backroads of Northern California .

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

Not to thread cap, but I am definitely considering placing an order next year for a Cayman R and was wondering if the clear engine cover for my 06 Cayman S would fit the Cayman R?

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

I bet it would fit, can't think of why it wouldn't.

+1 on the grill mesh! I cleaned out all kinds of leaves, bugs, twigs and even a small pebble out of mine. Without the mesh, all that **** might've ended up stuck to the radiators.

More track-appropriate than street-able, I suppose. Krokodil has then on his Cayman Spec. I'd do a quick search and find it. Might be of value, if you track often.

Re: Mods for your Cayman R?

I'm looking into Braille 11.5 lb (maybe the 15 lb) battery, Fabspeed race exhaust, GT3 brake ducts, lighter forged wheels, Softronic intake plenum/software.

Quick question since we're talking about Cayman R. How long did you have to wait after placing the order for your Cayman R? I just ordered mine last week and was told to expect it around Sept...

Peridot Metallic
Black Full Leather Interior
Bi-Xenon
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes
Sports Bucket Seats
Embossed Porsche Crest on the Headrests
