Question Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

I am new to the forum as last week I bought a Cayman 2.9 pdk.
I want to change the exhaust tip to a dual one but I am very confused which one I should buy.

    1) Chrome Sports Tip - Type 2
    http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=987G2_exhaust

    2) RS60 Exhaust Tip
    http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/RS60TIP11125831.html?Category_Code=987G2_exhaust

    3) Fabspeedicon Dual Exhaust Tip
    https://www.fabspeed.com/cayman_27.html

    4) I saw also some options here:
    http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/cayman_porsche_987C_gen2_performance_exhausts.html

    Please help me choose.

I suggest you consider the DREAM2. The DREAM2 is more than just a tip(s).
Improved exhaust flow resulting in a more mellow sound, improved gas mileage, no drone and improved performance. For more information visit:

Go on ebay and you should be able to find a chrome one for around 300. I have this one on my 2.9 987.2

I don't particularly like the look of the single large square OEM tip. I have THIS ONE from Agency Power on my 2.9 Cayman, in black chrome. It fit perfectly and still looks good after a year and a half.

Re: Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

Going through a similar decision-making process. The advantage of the RS-60 tip is it looks completely stock, like a Cayman S. The pipes are thicker, and to me don't scream aftermarket like the thinner-walled, less expensive ones.

Re: Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

OP, I currently have the stock RS60 tip on my gen 2 CS but I am in the process of "upgrading" to the Type 2 tip which is the tip standard on the CR. The tip is currently at the shop getting a ceramic coating in satin black. Will post up pics once installed (week or so).

Re: Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

If I were going to spend the money for new tips I would go with something that helps with the airflow like the Fabspeedicon or dream. I went with the black chrome AWE tips.

Great finish, nice look, curved airflow.

Re: Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

Thanks a lot for your replies.

    Is airflow important ?
If it is i should buy Fabspeedicon or AWE tips.

If it is NOT RS60 or Chrome Sports Tip - Type 2

Will that make any difference or it is only aesthetics ?

I would like an opinion if possible from people that have installed this or have done a research.

The differences are probably negligible, but it couldn't hurt to make the pipes in an X shape over the T shape.

Re: Exhaust Tip Recomendations for Cayman 2.9

I had the OEM Chrome Sport tips (hence the PM), and switched to the Fabspeedicon. The airflow difference according to Fabspeed, might account for a tiny boost in HP. Probably my butt-dyno trying to justify the $500, but in addition to a slightly more butch exhaust note, the car seems a tad punchier. But, like I said, my butt-dyno is sometimes overly optimistic.

My OEM chrome sport tips are for sale, by the way.

Fabspeedicon looks better. Both sets of tips are 3" in diameter. If you're thinking about new OEM Chrome or the Fabspeed..arent they both about the same price....I'd go with the Fabspeed, no question.

That tip as shown, is on my 2011 Cayman 987.2.

I don't recall how I determined it would fit my car, but it was a perfect fit. I installed it within a couple of weeks of getting the car, so it was easy to get the stock tip off. When I get home I'll see if I have an email from Agency verifying the fitment.

Since you have this tip installed on the 987.2, you had to separate the muffler canisters to remove the OEM T-section, correct?
