hard to start my cayman help

Hi, I noticed that my cayman when its hot doesn't want to start it takes a a lot cranks
and today went to store and the car sat for like 3 min and it was really hard to start, I had this problem before and went to the dealer and they said that everything was fine and of course now warranty just expired!! but when the car its cold starts right up, could be dirty injectors?

    thanks!

Does it sound like it is slower turning over when you crank the engine?

I would suggest your fault is more likely the battery, which is not an uncommon problem. The fact it occurs when the car is hot would tie in with a battery, because knackered batteries will get hotter when in operation and once hot don't perform as well as when cold.

The above is only based on what you said and could be completely wrong, however to get a battery tested is cheap and easy so is where I'd start. It's also best to get it checked ASAP, because it it completely fails it can become a bit of a pain.

If you still have good performance once started i.e. good acceleration, then it is very unlikely to be the injector, especially as it wouldn't normally get better when it is cold and worse when hot.

I have had a similar issue after the couple embarrassing times I've stalled it. I turn the key to off, then crank it and just as it sound like its going to catch it just kind of sputters out. Almost sounds like there is no compression. After a couple try's it fires and then no further issues. This is why I'm not a big fan if these fire and forget ignition systems in today's cars. I prefer the old crank until I say to stop style.

I agree with Dunebasher, if your car is 4 years old (you said warranty was up) and has not been done yet, battery probably the cause of your pain...

I'm confused, don't the 987s (or Porsches in general) crank until it fires-up or you give-up trying? I have never had problems starting, so I haven't had this problem. Just want to know so I won't think something's wrong with the ignition switch if it happens.

My wife's 2.7 did this for a while, battery was fine, and our dealer said it typically is an emissions purge valve failing (which causes hard warm starting), which they replaced. The car did not throw any OBD codes for this.

Hmm, maybe you're right. I'm so used to it starting right up I thought it was equivalent to a push button start only with a key. My brother's new Mustang fires up that way.

Has this fixed the issue for good?
Mine does this problem every once in a while when it's hot.
