Engine Vibration at 2K RPM- possible Motor Mount?

    Hi Everyone..

I have a very noticable vibration from the engine around 2K rpm. I've done a search on here and possibly the Motor Mount/ Engine Mount is the suspect. My question is, is there anyway to determine / inspect if the mount is shot without removing it? Any visual signs? push/ pull the motor to see if there is any play?
I was thinking of jacking up the car and going underneath to see if the motor will move by simply pushing/ pulling on the motor to see if there is any play...

Any helps or comments is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Engine Vibration at 2K RPM- possible Motor Mount?

The only way would be to use one of those a video camera / fibre optic cable gadgets.
However, removing the two transmission mounts does not take long.
Cant say the same for the engine mount.
    2010 Cayman S, special build.

Can you feel it while you are driving? I have a slight vibration around 2k but i can only really feel it when im parked and rev up slowly. Just thinking out loud but If its just slight it coud be a harmonic.

Re: Engine Vibration at 2K RPM- possible Motor Mount?

I have had the exact same vibration at 1800-2000 rpm on my 2008 CS. I replaced the motor mount and found, once removed, that it was slightly torn. The vibration is less but still there. The coil packs were recently replaced as well. The vibration does feel like something out of balance though.

I could not feel it as much when driving as idle. There is a slight vibration I have felt in other Caymans, but nothing like I had in mine before one engine mount was replaced.
