Anyone else see Mythbusters last night? The were testing the theory that, if you get caught in a rainstorm with the top down, driving faster will keep you drier. They were using a Carrera Cabriolet (looked like a 997.1) and a bank of overhead water sprinklers set up on an airstrip. Bottom line, they were able to show that the air stream from the hood and windshield would force the water over the top in a sheet that would miss the passenger compartment, the faster you go the drier you stay.

Wonder what would happen if they encountered a real Southern frog strangler downpour?

Also saw the same show where they tested the same theory except on humans when walking versus running.

Walking proved to be the most dry of the two scenarios. But it was very close.

I think if you dodge the raindrops on foot you can stay even drier, but it takes some quick reflexes...

My 88 911 cab keps me dry if I keep my speed up, but the mist coats the inside of the windshield so I can't see out it...stay dry or have visibility to drive fast...catch 22...easiest is just to jump out and put the top up...

I just slow down in my 911 cab to raise the roof with a press of the button while on the move :-)
