Air suspension on a Macan Turbo

As I decide on options for a 2015/2016 Macan Turbo, I would like to get some opinions from members about the Air Suspension option. I do like to drive aggressively on occasion. How important is this option? I did demo a Macan Turbo with this option but did not drive it long enough to really know. Thanks for any input.

Hi
After long discussions with the Driving Consultants at the UK Porsche Experience Centre, the consensus was that up to 19inch wheels the standard steel suspension with PASM gave the best all-round comfort/handling package. Above 19inch the air suspension was the better choice as the thinner tyre walls did compromise comfort. Again, it is down to personal choice/cost but for me 19inch on steel suspension with PASM is on the order sheet!
Hope that helps a little?

AS also lowers the ride height at higher speeds improving stability, but not something really useful (other than cosetic), if you're not at the track. If you ever go offroad, it'll also raise the vehicle height, but 95% of owners will never go offroad in their Macan.

If it were a Cayenne I would say do the air suspension, especially if you are using it as a tow vehicle or going off road. On the Macan I believe it's more window dressing than functional. Just because it's "riding on air" doesn't mean it's more comfortable. PASM, with its adjustable dampers is far more important to ride quality. In fact, the variable rate springs on the steel suspension offer a much nicer ride over most surface streets. I think your "driving consultants" gave you good advice.

if im ordering one, i would order the AS. If I found one i liked without AS for a good price, it would not deter me from buying it. I want a hitch and AS, if i am buying, but for the right deal could do without both. Lower coils and a hitch can be added later if needed. Now, if towing heavy loads, the AS would be a definite need for the auto leveling it provides. But for lighter loads like bikes or an outboard luggage platform, steel coils r OK.
