I just drove a loaner Cayenne for a day. Pretty nice car, though to big for me personally.
I've noticed, as usual there is no place to put phone in front of you, really. I'm thinking about fixing it. Even came up with a prototype. But I really need somebody with the car near me to finish things up.
Same for Macan. I'd like to develop phone mount for Macan and looking for car near me (West Michigan )
I'd love to have something on the left side of the wheel, between the A-pillar and the cluster binnacle. Right now I've got an iOttie (wireless charging) suction cup mount:
Trouble is the extended reach allows too much bounce. I flipped it over to allow it to sit lower (no pix yet) but that limits the vertical angle. Not too much but I'd rather have a little more tilt away at the top. The mount's not designed to be used that way. Of course then there's always things like this, from a club member's Cayman:
But he really does love the magnetic mount it uses.
Agreed. I'm going to forward him a link to your mount. It'd certainly be an improvement. But he really likes the magnetic part. I don't know if you have any options on using something like that on your base, instead of the clamps.
I'm using that one, without the magnetic part (or the clamp model they sell) with an iOttie wireless charging cradle. I've posted about it on rennlist:
The plastic on that clamp is crap, plenty of people complained on Amazon about the threaded part not being tight enough and then having the tabs break. I didn't plan on using either the clamp or the magnet, I just bought it for the long reach.
I agree. The member with the Cayman insisted it was strong enough to hold though all kinds of situations. I didn't see any point in arguing/discussing it. He's happy and I don't ever plan on using magnetic mounts.
My new Smartphone holder. No bouncing and within fingertip reach of the steering wheel on Macan GTS. Can also order in carbon fiber down the road.Probably strongest on market now
