Not much I can add to this discussion.
1) Who are you trying to please? Yourself? Friends? Strangers? Next owner? Buy for yourself, or you won't be happy long.
2) Black is fantastic. But as has already been said, it shows every imperfection right down to the atomic level. That said, detailing can be fun, and if you like it (I do), you'll have no trouble keeping a black Cayman beautiful.
3) White is the opposite; it hides every imperfection. It takes very little effort to keep a white car looking nice. If you have a busy life, this is an asset.
4) To my eye, the white Cayman looks fatter than the black one.
5) Almost always, the best color for showing off a car's lines is silver. (That's because it's neutral, on which shadows and highlights show up equally well.) The Cayman has great lines, and they show best in silver. Many cars have weaker lines and look better concealed in color.

Black looks classy but is dusty an hour after you clean it and very hot in the summer.
Stone grey is a very nice interior color, my Boxster had it and I wish my CS did. Black interior is like black exterior, it gets dusty right away. I think any beige interior looks bad.

Where do you drive your car? My black car will last 2 days without any dust on it if it hasent rained. Plus black is sexy, especialy if you get a beige or terra cotta interior. And about lines showing on white, I don't think so. White shines the least from all the colors, and black shines the most. so how would white show more lines if it dosent shine as much as black. Listen to me dude all my cars have been black, and they will continue to be black. Cleaning your car should be relaxing and should fill you with joy because you love your baby and you want to take good care of it, right? I don't even know what we are all replying for, he knows he's gonna get a black cayman anyways. Just go to the dealer and look at a black one and then look at the white one and then you will realize the same thing I realized. Black just kicks butt........

Oh and I almost forgot, if by some sort of bad luck, God forbide something miner happens to your black cayman, like someone cliping your bumper or something. Black will hide it to the degree that almost no one will ever notice. I'm speaking from expirence of previous cars. White will show it like crazy.

Black is great for luxury sedan, not sports car, and not Cayman. White or silver.

Guys, if there were a right answer here, PAG would say what Henry Ford is reputed to have once said: "You can paint it any color, so long as it's black."
Variety is the spice of life. My 928 was oakgrun (basically forest green). My GTI is white. My Cayman will probably be midnight blue, but one thing's for pretty sure, it won't be oakgrun or white.

I have white BoxsterS, so I would recommend white
Also Carrara white Cayman with Terracotta interior, white center(rear)console, and Guards Red seatbelt would be nice

white
White is often used to express beautiful shapes in art and architecture- it accentuates the form as the shadows are more pronounced and the attention is drawn to the form rather than to the colour.

I drive my car everywhere, it is my daily driver (Oklahoma). Black gets dusty even sitting in the garage. Do your homework on colors, you will learn that black absorbs every color of the light spectrum (explains why it gets so hot) and white reflects every color of the light spectrum (explains why it is cooler). What is up with "Listen to me dude?" An immature attitude that made me laugh ... how old are you? I have better things to do than clean my car every couple days. Am happy you like black, (and gag beige interior) have owned black before and NEVER again.

The vote is in favor of white, but the colors I see the most of on the street and at our drives in LA and OC are black and Silver

I think black is timeless.
If there are doubts what so ever with white, i would strongly consider black. You would not want to regret your decision.
Black is far easier to sell used (Toronto).
Typically, i think white sports cars are bought by car enthusiasts.
I was on the fence as well but opted for black. I'm aware of how difficult it is to keep clean, how hot it is in the summer, yadda, yadda, yadda but know after all that was said and done, i could live with black...NO REGRETS!!

I have nothing to add to this: "White or Black". But I have comments on Joy of Washing Cars.

Listen to me dude (in russian porsche voice) LOL
I have never find joy washing and detailing cars. It is totally waste the time (mine). Most of my cars never get wax at all. The best I can do is let the car go through the car wash once or twice a year depending on how bad the winter is. Rain does most of the washng for me.
When my children were younger, I made them to do “wax on” and “wax off” which did not last very long. They hated it. So I never impose on them . However, I do power wash my engine, suspension and undercarriage twice a year (Spring and Fall). I hate to work on greasy dirty cars. After washing the engine, I may power wash the car too if I still have the time. But 2400 psi sure makes my job easy.
If I ever purchase my Cayman that what I will do. Cayman will be treated just like my F150, BMW, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, Acura, and Pacifica. They all last for a long time if you take care of them. And Cayman will too.
My old teacher taught me that we should treat everyone equally. I just extend this principle to our vehicles too.

First of all I never said that I'm a color expert, but from what I can see with my eyes is that black SHINES and Reflex the most, okay DUDE. And I'm 22 don't know what my age has to do with how I talk. And my car which is black lasts 2 days looking very clean. And you don't need to wash it every couple of days, just one time a week or so. Every color gets dirty with in a week, I don't understand all these people that get so lazy to freaking wash their cars. It's just like mowing your lawn, you have to do it other wise it loks like ****.

Congrats…. I am glad that you come to your senses ordered the color you like instead what others tell you. I guess it is no harm done to ask; it is nice to be the center of attention for a few days.
