Remeber about advice: "Fools don't heed it and wise men don't need it."
...in other words if you are not going to listen to other peoples opinions...do not ask for them...LOL
...all fun and games aside (and this was fun)...if you made the choice that you really wanted you've made the RIGHT choice...but I am curious...weren't you leaning towards black in the first place?

You know my first car was white. Then I bought a black one, then another black one, and then another black one. You get the picture right?

I too like the black "stealthy look" but wanted a bit of "sparkle" ....that is why I went with the Atlas Grey. It is a little more money now but I think it is worth it.

Also Carrara white Cayman with Terracotta interior, white center(rear)console, and Guards Red seatbelt would be nice

My exact color combination excepting the seat belts. Carrara White, Terracotta with a white painted console. Pick up this coming Friday in SF, drive Highway 1 to Los Angeles.

All I can say is I'm glad the author of this thread went black. Keeps fewer white ones off the road and lends more exclusiveness to it. Needless to say I love my Carrara White CS and everyone who sees it in person appears to as well

In my opinion Cayman looks better in white
All the cars I've ever owned have been 6-cylinder BMWs in black (the glossy kind, not the black-metallic). If I were to get the 135i in the future, it would likely be black too, though I'd also consider the titanium metallic.
While the Cayman does look very nice in black when it's on the showroom floor, in my opinion it looks even better in white. Off the showroom floor, after the car has collected dust and grime, the difference is even more pronounced. If I were to get the Cayman in the future, it would most likely be carrara white, with a black interior, though I might also consider the silver metallic.
In terms of color psychology, black tends to be associated with "heavy" whereas white is associated with "light", which may explain why black is more popular with limousines but not nearly as much with sports cars.

My second Cayman S is a Silver/Black '07 and my first was White/Black '06 - miss the white often - as it is more bold and sporty - but overall am surprised to find the silver more relaxing and showing off more of the sculptural qualities of the Cayman body.
Pinninfarina almost always introduced a new car in silver due to the sculpturing effect...white is amazing on the Cayman but it goes flat in the "in-between" curves - like on the doors and the rear arches - where the silver seems to accentuate the subtleties of the continuous contours more and less of the overall sillouette.
...just more to chew on...

This may be one of the reasons why silver or titanium metallic are such popular colors. At the last auto show in Frankfurt, two years ago, all BMW models on display were in titanium metallic, virtually all the Audi models had the equivalent color, and the vast majority of Porsche and Mercedes models came in silver. If you wanted to see a red car, you could find one at the Ferrari stand.
Of course those group photos of Porsche cars on the Internet (for instance different generations of the same kind in the "pre-owned" section) also show off the silver versions.
Still, from a safety standpoint, white is the best color to get because it's the most readily recognizable in traffic (except in the snow).

White is the second most ticketed color. Red, of course, the first. But, yellow can't be far behind.
Silvers and grays have been associated with corporate and with power and success. Some grays and silvers do however blend in better with the road and help in achieving stealth when one doesn't want to be noticed in the distance coming at speed.
As far as weight, white is lighter. On my friend's small Sonix plane he said that painting it, white of course, would add 22-24 pounds.
I figure that is about the same for the CS. My guess is that the metallics could as much as double that and red comes very close to that. But, yellow and black are possibly the second lightest of the colors.

I love black when it is super clean. But I went with white because it shows the curves and with my sand interior it looks very classy. I would go with silver if I had a choice again. LOL! whatever you like is what is good, not what others think.

Since we've rejuvenated this thread I'll add a larger picture of my white on white Cayman that appears in my avatar.
