June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Lucky gets lucky! My dealership called today and said they had a 2010 Cayman S slot from a district manager for a June build. He gave it up to the dealer so I could place the first special order for a 2010. As of today I did make my final move from NB to Cocoa for a couple of reasons. The main one being I really do not like the headliner in Black with NB. Here are my specs.

GT Silver
Cocoa Full Leather
Self dim mirrors and Rain Sensor
Heated seats
Wheel caps with colored crest
Automatic Climate Control
Universal Audio Interface
Floor mats in interior color
Rear center console in leather
Stainless door Sill insignia
Power seat package
Roofliner in Alcantara
front air intake in exterior color
mirror attach finishers in exterior color
BiXenon with Dyn corner
19 inch Carrera S 11 wheel
Bose
Porsche Crest in Headrest
Storage cmpt Lid W/Model Logo
Seat Ventilation

Should be here sometime in August. Thanks to everyone for your help along the way. Will post pics of my new baby when she arrives.

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Lucky, congratulations. I'm out here in Oregon awaiting a build slot for my 2010 CS. Actually flying to Atlanta tomorrow to visit family in Peach Tree City.

I need some of your luck to get my car on order soon . Later. Flip

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Congrats, Lucky.

I think I may also have one of the first 2010MY orders, but on the West Coast (June 2 build). Can't believe that it's only about a week away!

I, too, went with Cocoa, except with white exterior. Xenons, Nav, Carrera S IIs, Bose, Short Shifter, Heated Power Seats, Auto AC, Dimming Mirrors, Bluetooth, Universal Audio, and a few other extras that I can't remember off the top of my head . . .

Lucky and nickho, I got my 2009 CS three weeks ago, Arctic silver with cocoa. I get a ton of compliments on the interior color, and I've already put 900+ miles on the car. Its honestly the best thing I ever "treated" myself to. The wait will be tough, but its totally worth it.

Morning Flip, I know the wait is crazy... I have been at this for months and was told sometime in June. They still are not sure when so i really did feel lucky yesterday. I was there 15 minutes after I received the call. Even knowing what I wanted it took about 3 hours. As you know spending 3 hours around Porsche is not a bad thing. Always fun to look and play. Have a great trip to Atlanta! Maybe on your next visit we will both be in our cars and we can meet somewhere. I am only around 45 - 60 minutes from Ptree City.

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Nickho, Congrats to you! Hmmmm I forgot the short shift. Wonder if it is too late... Actually saw a White/Cocoa 911 on the lot. Beautiful! Cocoa is such a rich color. It is funny. Once you place your order you forget unless you read it off of the sheet. Also woke up thinking, Should I add leather visors? Why ? Then it is why not? Mine may already be too late to add anything. May need to call on the short shifter and find out.

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Dave, Congrats and I know you must be out driving already. It is 6:30 a.m here. So if you are in the West Coast I would say 3:30 a.m. nay be a great time for a spin. The wait will be a little difficult however I have lusted after the Cayman since 06' so a few more months should fly by. Just about when the kids go back to school I will be in mine. I am sure my son may want to skip the bus ride that first day if I can drop him off in a Cayman. I am creating a monster in my 12 year old. He sees me go through cars like underwear. Well maybe not that quick but I either buy or add a car every 1 - 2 years. Drives the wife a little cray... Guess I better be ready in a few years when he starts to drive.

Congratulations Lucky. Looks like you did it right. You might want to consider the leather steering column, although I think you are very close to the cut-off date for making changes. Now the hard part begins.........waaaaaaaiting!

Thanks Silberrosa! I went back and forth but now after seeing your pic I am going to call and see if there is time to add it. What do you think about leather sun visors? Need it or no?

Lucky, the short shifter is an accessory that can be easily (and cost-effectively) added after you receive your car, so don't sweat it if you can't change your order . . . I guess the same holds for the leather sun visors.

Short shifter seems reasonable if done by yourself cost wise but leather visors aren't, I believe their almost double in price......Suncoast has them, but without looking to check their price to verify (2 lazy), I would say if you want them and have time try and squeeze them from the factory, I was too late in getting the door finishers, visors and steering column done in leather, now I won't pay after market pricing..nice car BTW

Just looked, Suncoast leather visors are $835.48 v.s. $560.00 factory, steering column from S.Coast was $549.00 factory $420.00, couldn't find door finishers from order guide but S.Coast has them for $379.95, all three would be cool IMHO

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

Thanks nickho, Appreciate your help. Will wait and see on the shifter once I take delivery. decided against the sun visors. Even the salesman said there is a point where you should just stop. I respect that from a guy who makes $$ with the more he can add to the car. In his opinion he thought I did not need them and that the car was built perfect as is.

Thanks for the info on the sun visors. Sounds a little high. More than likely they will spend most of the time up vs down anyway. Rather invest the $$ in new Porsche shades that I can wear. BTW does Porsche still make sunglasses? I know they did years ago.

Re: June build order for my 2010 Cayman S placed today

My special order and color 06 with full carbon package and all the bells and whistles came in at 89 grand. Every time I go to the dealer they are very fast to tell me they have never ordered a CS like mine. I waited 4+ months for it to come it. It was my first Porsche ever and I worked many years to be able to afford one and I wanted what I wanted and was willing to wait on it. cobalt Bue back then was a $3500 option color, now I think it is around $700. can u spell rip off!!! oh well I have it, I love it and I get rave reviews from people around the area..

Lucky, Nice job with the order that combo will compliment nicely and look great. I can't wait to see some pics. If I were putting in an order today mine would look identical to yours!

Well done and best of luck with the wait!
