After two warnings from NY State Troopers (both at routine checkpoints), I broke down and decided to install a front license plate. I chose the Skene Design bracket and it's pretty cool.
If you don't dig the offset position of a tow hook plate holder, this is a good option. Skene allows you to center the plate and NOT drill holes into the front of the bumper. You do need to drill, but only UNDER the lip of the bumper. In my case, with the '09 Cayman, I was able to drill up into the black faux grille.
Little rubber stops protect the top of the plate/bracket from hitting the bumper.
Check out the pix. Please excuse the insect graveyard!
