Any advice on surprise 2010 CS order please...

Looks like my dealer may get a slot in the next week for a 2010 CS... build start almost immediately and delivery in Sept. What I'm wondering is I havn't seen the North American 2010 Cayman Order Guide. Given the short runway on this build, dealer is telling me I probably won't have an ability to change the specification once order is submitted. Soooooo....if the order guide isn't available now, what risks do you think I run having some new option (eg; new color offered, optional performance offering) becoming available resulting in me kicking myself for not waiting for my previous build slot (Jan 2010 delivery Mar 2010). I'm ok with the existing buttons for PDK and don't need to wait for the paddles. Thanks in advance.

Flip, I can tell you from what I am hearing that Porsche is cutting way back on production. I got my confirmation today for my build to be ready by Sept 3rd. I tried to buy an 09' and could not get one so as soon as I had the opportunity to get a 2010 I jumped on it. I do not know if I would wait until a January build. Who knows if that will happen. I would ask your dealer if they know for sure that January cars will be built before I pass up a build for right now. Do not think they will make any changes between now and then as far as color but you could ask that as well. They may or may not know the answer. For me I was so excited to get a early build I did not have to think about it at all. Good luck! Remember supply and demand. If you turn this down you will not have much of a choice and will have to wait. FYI There are some cars also available in Scottsdale right now for sale. 2010 models Check out Scottsdale Porsche. They are one of the few with 2010 cars in stock.

Thanks Lucky. Good points. I actually had already looked at the Scottsdale dealer's inventory...passed. Guess when you are dropping the money "ya want what ya want".

If my local dealer actually does get this slot, I'm almost certain I will pull the trigger on it.

Flip,

I downloaded the 2010 order guide from this site. It may not be the US order guide but it will give a pretty good idea as to whats up. I think it is australian

Thanks jman. Got it a while back. Not the North American order guide but at least I didn't see any of my desired options or color eliminated.

Your welcome Flip. I agree 100%. We want what we want and should not settle for anything less. Hope you get the build slot and find what you are looking for.

Re: Any advice on surprise 2010 CS order please...

The only thing have seen on the 2010 is that the price is up about $1300 base on the S. But that's no surprise.

I have found an 09 almost exactly as I would want it at a local dealer. I may go for the 09.

Re: Any advice on surprise 2010 CS order please...

thanks for the replies. I gave the green light for the order documents to be prepared today. Some uncertainty on the build start....looks like September vs immediately. Seems odd that a company known for building precise machines has such a challenge telling their customers when one will start down the assembly line. Games afoot?

Not really - if you do some other reading in this and the "buying and leasing" forum, you'll see everyone is saying the same thing. The build slots for the '09s were gone by April of this year. They don't even have the official '10 order guides yet at the dealerships... PAG is trying to build the right amount of cars for a demand they can only guess at. That makes the process chaotic to be sure, but they don't want to end up with thousands of cars sitting on the lots at the end of the year that they have to basically give away, like a lot of other car manufacturers.

Take a look at this post from someone who works at a Porsche dealership...

Re: Any advice on surprise 2010 CS order please...

My on again off again process just became "delayed". Turns out that one option I wanted in my factory build was the Porsche Sport Exhaust. Just got notified this morning that PSE is not available yet for 2010 builds. "Might" become available in the Oct - Dec timeframe. So I'm back to my Jan 2010 slot. No problem. I can wait.

Flip, You are more patient than I am however I do understand waiting so you can get what you want. Maybe with you waiting they will get to mine sooner. Thanks for that opportunity... Will keep you posted.
