What have I done?
After long lurking here and much hand-wringing, I seem to have put a deposit on a 2010 Cayman S today. I've spent so much time dreaming about owning one of these, it's going to be strange actually having one...
It's going to be: - Meteor Grey
- Black standard interior
- 6-speed
- LSD
- Sport shift
- Sport steering wheel
- ... and then some toys (bi-xenon, heated/ventilated seats, Bose audio, climate control, bluetooth phone, ipod link)
Thanks to Park Place Porsche (and Neal Brown) in Dallas for being nothing but great to work with all through this process.

Re: What have I done?
Congrats xmatt! I know how you feel. I started back in 2006. Then tried to order a 2009 however I was late and all the 09's were locked out. I placed my 2010 order at the end of May and just received my completion date around 10 days ago for Sept 3rd. Now we get to wait just a bit more and anticipate our true delivery date. You will find yourself reading Planet Porsche even more just so you can believe that you will have your own soon. In case you have not seen any of my post.
GT Silver/Cocoa Full Leather
Pretty much fully loaded other than Nav and Bluetooth.
Have bluetooth in my Cooper and do not really love it any more. People say they cannot hear me and they get frustrated. If the volume is too high there is an echo and if too low it is still difficult. Plus road sounds etc. Loved it at first but the more I use it I did decide to leave it off on my Cayman S There are some people out there that have it on their Cayman's and sound like they are fine with it. For me I will enjoy the sound of the engine and my calls can wait until later...
Congrats again!

That was the option I was most conflicted about (well, other than color). I guess my experience is more a friend who has an Audi in which the bluetooth works really well -- I'm hoping the Porsche is closer to that I suppose?

Re: What have I done?
You "seem to have" put down a deposit? Lots of hesitations there!
Congrats on becoming an owner. You will enjoy the car for sure!

Re: What have I done?
xmatt,
I can absolutely relate. From initial deposit (at Park Place, too!) last July until arrival in April, it was 9 months of bizarre mood swings.
Still sometimes have to open door to the garage, look in and say "Yep, that's my car..." Shake my head, wonder what was I thinking. THEN, I start her up and go for a drive. And everything goes back into perspective.

I hope so as well. If not, oh well. Not that big of an investment. I am sure the excitement of the car will make up for it if there are issues. Would not worry about it.

Yeah, I'm guessing that most of my conversations using the bluetooth connection will be along the lines of "hey, guess where I am! hang on, I'm going into a tunnel and need to downshift."

Ah, I'm looking forward to this kind of perspective...
I'll have to keep an eye out for the green Cayman S -- great color you picked.

I am sure there will be plenty of downshifting... Tunnels? Where do you live? Bet the sound of that engine will sound awesome going through a tunnel.

Well, what tunnels there are, I'm sure I'll find a way to spend time in them.

The freeway underpasses are the closest thing in Dallas. THey actually
work surprisingly well. Too well for me because I don't like to draw attention.
BUt if you want to hear the sustain and echo, I think you'll enjoy it.
