Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

Has anyone took delivery or a received a estimated delivery date on 2010 Cayman S orders yet. My Cayman S was completed on June 8, I have heard many different answers on when I should see it. Any rumors are welcome.
This is my first Porsche and I am new to how long the process takes from order to delivery. Thanks

re: Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

I have an order in that went on May 28th however was told my completion date is Sept 3rd. Not sure how you got such an early completion date of June 8th unless your dealership was truly early in getting allocations for build orders. Not to doubt you but have you been told that the car is completed? If so I have heard stories of it taking weeks to arrive due to the wait time to get on a ship. I have built cars in the past where it has taken 6-8 weeks from completion to arrive in the states. Guess I would keep calling my salesman and see what he/she can tell you. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Last thing my salesman told me was that it was on the ship and that I should watch the weather in the atlantic. I have a born on date and the vin number for the car just trying to wait patiently till it arrives in port of baltimore then I should get a better idea when it will be here.

re: Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

Your sales person has the ability to log into Porsche's system and get build updates. They are fairly sketchy designations but helpful to determine the "waiting on ship" stage. After it is on the ship all the following is pretty much a black hole as for as information goes; time on the ship depends on the port it is delivered to, the weather, the time it takes to go through the US preparation at the port, the assignment to a truck and the number of stops the truck makes before it gets to your dealer.

Some of us in the early stages got the vessel name from the sales person and the port it was being delivered to and used some internet sites to sort of do our own tracking. You can probably find those posts from 2005/6 by searching if you want.

Sounds like you will have yours fairly quickly.

re: Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

I just got a email from my salesman telling me the car will be built in september with delivery to the dealership by october. Those numbers don't seem right to me, i think it's trying to keep me happy...however i have thoughts of driving home in my dream car during a snow storm!! That would really suck!

09/09/09 is our completion date, so it should be ready a few weeks after that

Hi all,

Can I check if the 2010 cayman that you guys are talking about is the same as the 2009 cayman? We just gotten a cayman s PDK.. In Singapore, Its known as the 2009 model.. Is a newer model coming out so soon after the 2009?

In north america, the 2010 cs is the exact same car with the same options as the 2009 cs. The only difference is a 2% price increase. That's what my dealer just told me anyways. I'm not sure if it's the same thing elsewhere in the world.

The 2010 model also gets the PDK steering wheel whether it's a manual or a pdk.

Walked by a 2010 sitting on the sidewalk at Manhattan motors the other day...thought about boosting it till I saw it was not an S. Seriously... I really do like the new look both front and rear so proceeding with 2010 order...

SCOTTC, are you sure about the PDK steering wheel on all 2010's. That doesn't seem to make sense as there are buttons on the wheel that would be useless on a manual car... Besides that it's a fatter sport type rim so no one would order the three spoke rim as an upgrade?

Does it look any different from the 2009?

It's not out of the realm of possibility. I think ScottC means the PDK style wheel. Thicker rim, flat bottom, round airbag.

The old USA option 460 3 spoke sport steering wheel is no longer an option for 2010. It's not an option on the 2010 global order guide, and when i ordered my 2010, the dealer told me the same thing. Its not listed anywhere in the entire options codes list. When i told him to change it to the regular non-pdk multifunction wheel, he told me the code for that had changed to 844. (844 in 09 us order guide is pdk multifunction wheel. In 2010, its the regular non-pdk multifunction wheel ....)

I think the new standard steering wheel, even for 6 speeds, could very likely be a pdk wheel, just without the buttons.

Again, I have no proof, just some deductions and ASSupmtions on my part.

re: Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

How are you guys placing orders for 2010's when there isn't even a north american order guide out yet? I can't believe that some of these build dates are so soon when we don't even have an official option list, only heresay from local dealers.

re: Has anyone taken delivery of 2010 cayman yet

Morbo, that makes me wonder. On my printout for my 2010 build I did specify the 460 option, which is why I responded in the first place as the PDK wheel would be a great gift as standard. I would prefer it over the sports wheel but on my printout it said 460 with a build date of June 23 and delivery some time end of august or early september. We'll see what turns up!!!
