PIWIS coding

I have installed a PCM navigation unit, and a multifunction steering wheel to my 06 boxster S. I went in to the dealer to have the navigation programed so that the navigation info would come up in the center gauge display, and so that my steering controls would work. They were able to program most of it but I have noticed that my radio ID3 info will not come up in the center gauge display anymore, and I have went through all of the user options with the control stalk and that option is no longer there. The other issue I have is with the multifunction, I should have an option in the pcm setup menu for configuring the steering wheel buttons, but that feature is missing as well. I haven't had much luck with the dealer on this matter.
Can anyone provide me with programing instructions so I can have the dealer try again.

One other option I asked to have programed was a one touch control of the convertible roof when the car is parked, they said I would have to buy the Mods4Cars comfort controller. Has anyone had the one touch roof activated with the PIWIS

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks

Re: PIWIS coding

I fitted the multi function wheel to my car a few years back ( maybe even the first to do it) The multi function wheel is coded in more than one location in the car. The primary location is in the steering wheel electronics, but its also coded in the PCM itself. The Gateway module will also neeed to know that a PCM rather than CDR unit is installed and configured as to whether it has navigation , an external CD changer , telephone or Bose. Once all the coding has been completed , the values need to be read out from the vehicle into the PWIS and then read back in , to ensure they are configured correctly. This is called a vehicle handover procedure and takes a while to carry out. The steering wheel electronics can be configured for tip , tip with multi function, or multi function controls with manual so there are plenty of options to set up. It sounds from your description as though one of the locations in the gateway / control modules for the PCM hasnt been set up corectly. Unless you installed all new hardware, there is also a potential that the PCM has an older hardware/ software level than the age of the rest of the vehicle , which may also cause some anomalies. The ID3 tag may be a function of the PCM setup , try pressing set when in radio mode to see the options menu.

Re: PIWIS coding

Thanks berty987

I think that my dealer needs to program the PCM for the multifunction controls, and for the ID3 info, it use to work with the PCM before the dealer programed it to the car. I have update the PCM to SW versions 3.3 when I installed them so that shouldn't be an issue.
