I have an '06 CS, so the chin spoiler is the 'titanium' color, and the body is black. I believe the '07 CS has the chin spoiler in the same color as the body. Anyway, I have seen black Caymans with the chin spoiler in the same color and I think it looks sharp. Kinda makes the nose look more aggressive.Can't decide if I should have my spoiler painted black also. Any opinions out there about my conundrum?

go for it...the different color chin makes it look 'after market' when it isn't. i prefer uni-color...luckily, i have artcic silver.

Don't do it!!!! Just kidding I have just received a can of color matched paint, to paint mine, which is also black in the OC. Another CC member I met this weekend has painted his black as well, It looked nice.
FYI I have heard that they are $80.00 a side and the new base cayman comes with flat black chin spoilers.

http://www.colorrite.com/ and I was told they are $80a side at the dealer.

I bet with All Pro's pricing you might be twice that $80/side mark :-P. They just charged my dad $400 for a rear light cover only for a Cayenne; charged my mother more for her extended warranty than the price listed on BMW's website before I called in to alleviate the problem (I actually knew the finance manager at the time, he used to work at Mercedes with me!), and wanted to charge me 20.59 plus tax per side for the side markers. I really don't enjoy dealing with them or the Dodge\Chrysler loaners they give; how bout you?

I say either paint the lower spoiler lips, or go with aluminum slats on the front intakes for a two-tone black\titanium look. All black will probably look more classy though but on my white car I've been thinking about going with the aluminum slats.

i wonder if getting the front spoiler color coded by porsche is better. doesn't the manufacturer baking processproduce a paintjob that's less liable to flake off in the long run?

Thanks, suneet. I actually haven't needed to use one of their loaners yet, so I've been lucky.Godless, you are probably right. I may be asking for trouble if I have it painted. I need to perhaps check it out at Brumos in Jacksonville.

Just my .02......I think the titanium colored lips look good and makes the Cayman front be a little different than other Porsches......but of course it's strickly a personal matter.

I would be willing to believe that the new body colored front lips are going to come unpainted or primered from the parts department......and a body shop will be needed to paint them. The titanium versions come pre-painted and list for around $92 each.....but if your good friends with the parts guys or a PCNA member you can get them a little cheaper. I don't know what they would charge for the unfinished versions.....hopefully a little less.

One thing for sure......once they are painted body color, let them sit for a week or two (longer if possible) to fully cure......believe me it makes a world of diff when it comes to how many chips you will get on them. Soft new paint will get chipped and marred pretty quickly.....especially where these things are mounted.

At a concours 20 years from now, some one will say, 'Hey, why did that guy paint his spoiler lips silver?' To which the reply will be, 'That's the way the car came stock. It actually cost more to get them painted the same color as the rest of the car in '06. Ever since then it cost more to get them in silver. They only offered that as standard in the first model year.' My point being.............the silver lips are what makes the car uniquely an '06 (that and no standard TPMS). I agree, though, that it looks better on some colors than others. I'd buy a new set and keep the originals tucked away.

I hit a curb, yes... I did it! anyway, The front Chin-lip from the dealer in Flat black is $79.00 - 10% if you are a PCA member. They come off and go on in less that 10 mins.

You have a good point. Since it is a first year croc, it will probably be worth a good bit more if I keep it bone stock. At least I would think so.

I have a black Cayman and like the all black look so I had mine painted black.

I think the original 06 Ti colour looks quite neat and wouldn't change it if I were you. I am waiiting for my Carrara White 07 CS in October and it will come with matching chin spoiler, which I think looks quite ordinary IMO. I personally prefer the Aluminium look of the 06 spoiler.

Thanks folks...It does look menacing in black and I would love to have it that way (sometimes I even feel that the titanium color verges on tacky, although it sure didn't bother me initially), however, since my CS came with the titanium painted spoiler, I guess I should leave it that way. I guess I will get it in body color when Porsche builds the Cayman GT (wishful thinking, of course). This thread has helped me quite a bit, and I greatly appreciate your responses, all very helpful.
