Boy, I do. The longer rear hatch detracts from the car in my opinion.

Agree. The rear does not look good.

I presume they'll just tweak the 0-60 performance by 0.1-0.2 of a second. Maybe use the Cayman R motor?

Re: New 2012 Cayman mule spied

The change in the back glass was necessitated by wanting to produce a Targa version of the Cayman. Dare I say they've made the profile look more 911-like with the way the glass slopes and is no longer recessed into the hatch with mini-wings but rather flush as was once pictured in early Cayman prototype drawings from 2004.

Agree, also rear view side mirrors attached to the door, possibly enabling remote folding.

Cheers.

Has the Panamera become a style influence for Porsche sports cars now? Baby got back!

That said the photo's aren't that good so I'll reserve final judgement until I see something production ready.

Re: New 2012 Cayman mule spied

Thanks for sharing. The Cayman was confirmed by Porsche months ago, so it was just a question of time before the first mules would start showing up. These shots seem to be from Posche's own testing grounds, or at least some closed circuit. They haven't let them lose on the streets yet. The timing is interesting, as it may suggest the Boxster and Cayman will be released at or near the same point in time.

The changes are evolutionary, as one would expect, which is good news. I think it looks good, though I agree the altered rear hatch makes it more 911-like. The 911 silhouette is of course beyond reproach, but I do hope the Cayman retains a strong identity of its own.

Here are better shots of the next Boxster and 911 for comparison (click on one of the thumbnails to enter the gallery, there are 30 shots in all):

Porsche Boxster als Erlkönig: Ab 2012 mit Vierzylinder-Turbo - auto motor und sport

It's hard to tell if it has grown. The Boxster mules do seem slightly larger when seen next to the 911, don't you think?

I'm just glad all the fuss about Porsche discontinuing the Cayman is now over. Can't wait to see some performance numbers and prices.

Yes, that certainly dispels the rumors, doesn't it .

Cheers

Re: New 2012 Cayman mule spied

Finally, a mule sighting!

I'm also happy to see that they're coming out with a revised Cayman, it would be a shame to see one of the purest Porsche's disappear. I think the new styling will really suit the new Cayman, more so than the Boxster IMHO. Hopefully they don't increase the size of the car.

2014 Cayman testing

Inside Line just posted a couple spy shots of the 2014 Cayman testing. As rumored, they sound sure that the 4 cylinder turbo will make its way into the next generation Cayman.

Thanks for posting.
A 4 banger with 360hp! If it's not a turbo, it must really be wound tight.

Re: 2014 Cayman testing

Something about that back end looks weird. It looks like it slopes down really low. Maybe they need to do this to support a targa configeration.
I find it hard to believe they will give it 360hp. Especially since the next base Carrera is speculated to have 365hp. This is a little too close for comfort if history has taught us anything.

There is a fair bit of camoflage over that back screen. It may not be as 911ish as it appears....atleast I hope not.
