'Grumpy' - because it doesn't like to wake up in the morning. I've never had a car whose entire demeanor changed as radically once warmed up.

Hmm, Naming cars is a MINI Cooper thing.
In general, its usually wise not to name your car ... your car will tell you what it wants to be called. You will know.
My wife thought the car was too sweet so its ... 2Sweet (or tripple sweet because 2sweet is just 2 common!)

Humpy Wheeler. That's what he said his name was when I asked. Humpy Wheeler is also the name of the man who made Lowe's Motor Speedway what it is today. My RSA didn't have a name and neither does my M3.

I'm with Fadiboy. We call ours 'the yellow car' or 'the Porsche'. Even with the many really quaint old British cars I have owned, I never named them and it would have been more appropriate than naming a Porsche. Which gives me a chance to ask something that has been on my mind. What is the origin of the practice on this site of refering to the cars as 'my baby' and being 'born'? It's widely used and accepted, like something with its origins in a TV sitcom. Actually it makes me a little uncomfortable (too female). It's certainly not the first thing to bother me as a result of several generation gaps and it is my problem and not a complaint. But does anyone know where this started?

I don't have a name for the car per say, but when I want to joke around with friends I call her Jenny ( as in Jenny from the Block aka Jennifer Lopez ) - it should be clear why this name when looking at the car from behind

Our vehicles have a tendency to pick up nicknames because it's easier to say 'Newt' than 'the black Miata'. They also tend to just 'get' a name - I've never yet sat down to think up a name for one of our cars.
OTOH, I'm also not too comfortable with the personification of cars.

I call mine The Porsche. Maybe I'll have to think of something more creative if I ever get another one.
