Country: | | Is it time for another Badge??? I received contact from the company that produced our original badges about 4 years ago, for those who weren't a part of this community back then here is a picture of what those badges looked like:
We also had a discussion (that seems to be missing some pics now) about where and how to mount these badges. You can find that here: Show us your Badges!!!
I get request from time to time for these badges and with the company contacting me again I thought I'd see if our members would like to get some made again. Here are my initial thoughts:
1) could be gold this time instead of silver
2) could be a different graphic
3) If same graphic then modify the text obviously to update things
4) cost would still be roughly the same if we get enough orders
5) different shape/size is possible but would need to have consensus and I don't want to dilute the project with ideas going every which way (herding proverbial cats)
If you are interested in getting a badge please do 2 things:
1) Vote in the survey poll
2) Reply with your ideas/suggestions
Thanks in advance! |

I don't dislike the graphic on the "heritage" badge. I think that a partially submerged caiman head would make a good graphic as well. |

I agree with rubber-ducky's comments.
Gold, please.... |

Personally, I'm not a fan of the 'gator association (I was disappointed when Porsche did not name the car Boxster Coupe, or simply give it a numerical name, and instead gave it a name that sounds a lot like Cayenne).
The current logo used by the Cayman Register is very nice, in my opinion. So is the stylized "9" in the Planet 9 logo. One of these would be neat. |

I think that doing a Cayman Register thingie, with what happen to Ken originally and it now being P-9, might be asking for trouble. |

Country: | | | Re: Is it time for another Badge??? Just to be clear, there would not be any Cayman Register text, logo, etc. since Planet-9 is wholely separate from the PCA's Cayman Register. Back in 2008 we were the home of the Cayman Register but for reasons I don't need to go into, we are no longer affiliated with PCA or the Cayman Register.
We are certainly free to use the original Croc style logo that we developed, but we could just as easily do a Planet-9 logo, or some new style graphic as well. I'm certainly open to suggestions. |

Static cling for the inside window, please.
Thanks for bringing this back, Ken.

I am not familiar with the history of the Cayman Register but perhaps sometime in person I can get filled in by a member with more history than me. But for a badge, I think the current design is nice. Perhaps a slightly different coloration would be nice for those who already have the original. Who needs a spare badge? Not many is my guess. But there may be those who purchase one because it is different.

Country: | | | Re: Is it time for another Badge??? While I understand the desire for a static cling logo, the last time we did those we had to do a MINIMUM run of 500 and we had probably 350+ left over and were never reimbursed by PCA at the time for our out of pocket expenses so it was a really money loser. If someone has a source for static clings that doesn't require a 500 unit minimum order and still produces quality work at a reasonable price then please let me know and I'll consider looking into that along with the metal badge possibility.
Thanks! |

I've only been a member here for about a week, so not sure my two cents are worth two cents, but the old logo is a bit "Florida gators" looking, planet 9 would be better. I agree vinyl would be the way to go, in an array of sizes. If the classic logo sticks, maybe consider making it the shape and size of the Porsche shield so it won't look out of place on, say, the front or rear bumper...? |
