Country: | | | Day 3 with the Exocet I just came back from an impulsive drive I had to get out of my system with the new R.
Smiling ear to ear... Street roads are really just not enough for this car - I am patiently awaiting DE season.
I've read others saying they don't use the radio and just listen to the engine music... I'm with them now.
All my life I've focused on having a good stereo system and I was plagued with having nothing but the standard radio with this car but I think I get it now. I've found myself shutting it and forgetting all about it a few times now. PSE a must in this car... I've never heard anything like it.
I'm definitely I the honeymoon period and absolutely loving it. I hope it lasts!!
This car is really something else. But you probably all already knew that

Interestingly, another member here named their R the "Exocet" as well!

Indeed Seems we have more than one missile in our arsenal.

Country: | | | Re: Day 3 with the Exocet Lol.. hmm.. I thought there was some official Porsche history around calling the R the exocet. Months ago another P enthusiast I work with who drives a GT3 referred to it as the Exocet.. and i had no idea why, and then I saw your signature in particular and figured.. "Oh - this must be an official reference with a cool story like the left side ignition.." which led me to google and learn its a French missle which made no sense..
and so I have to question - does exocet actually have anything to do with the R or is that just your name for your car?? |

Mine is named after a female Samurai Assassin character since she slices and dices her foes.

Sidewinder is a short range heat seeking missile, the Exocet on the other hand has a 180km range in the MM40 block 3 variant and is designed to destroyed mid-sized ships (Frigates/Destroyers). I like the sound of that.

Country: | | | Interesting... Wonder why my other Porsche friend referred to it as the Exocet months ago.
(he is from the UK if that means anything).

Country: | | | Re: Day 3 with the Exocet Because "Exocet" sounds better than "Harpoon"? (Harpoon is the US anti-ship missile, roughly comparable to the Exocet). |

(he is from the UK if that means anything). | Have no idea...but this is my second car with an Exocet vanity plate. The first was a 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT...another mid-engine car.

Re the radio/music, even with my previous Cayman S I found that the engine noise made it difficult to enjoy the music. The engine purring is more pronounced in the R. I'll listen to the radio even less now.

(he is from the UK if that means anything). | In some ways an odd choice by someone from the UK given the Exocet was something of a concern during the Falklands war when it seen demonstrate a weakness in the Royal Navy's anti-missile defenses and had the potential to tip the naval war decisively in favour of Argentine forces. Mind you that was 30 years ago and I may be somewhat older that your friend
If you are British and want to name after a British missile there are quite a few reasonable choices, but I draw the line at 'Green Cheese' ...... . I kid you not.....Just Google it, only in Britain.....
