4 years!

4 years ago today, I picked up my very first Porsche - my 2008 Cayman S, Meteor Gray over Cocoa.

I don't know I can say I could be any happier with the car than I am. After months and months of car comparisons, test drives, reading every car magazine out there, and then four years and 47,000 miles of actual every-day-driving ownership I can honestly say my CS is an even better car than I hoped it would be! How many times does that happen in the real world?

Beautiful? Check. Reliable? Check. Practical? Check. Unbelievably fun on track? Check plus! Am I lucky to have one? More than I deserve, for sure!

So yeah, I've drunk the Porsche Kool-Aid. Still, I truly find my CS to be a wonderful car and everything I had dreamed.

Now, it's time to grab the keys and go drive some more...

Re: 4 years!

I think he says 47,000, which is great--12,000 miles per year. I have a relatively short commute, so I only put 8,000 miles a year on my CS, but I recently reached my first 10,000 miles driven (bought at 16,000mi). I have to check all the same boxes as Speedy, and I am certainly drinking the Kool-Aid (and was recently reprimanded for it on Planet 9, when I was accusing others of perpetuating the IMS horror myth here...)
So long as I get people coming up to me in parking lots (twice in the last week) telling me how wonderful and special my car is, I'll be one happy Cayman owner/driver.

Re: 4 years!

It's great to hear positive stories like this one. I hope that 4 years from now I'll be looking at my car the same way. There have been a few too many horror stories with these cars, but I feel that many of them are just over blown.

Congrats on your new car! I'll look forward to reading your post!

I see you are in Raleigh. (Me too.) Have you been to any of the local meets? If not, please feel free to come on out - it's a great group.

Hope to see you around!

I go to Cars & Coffee @ Briar Creek on the 1st Sat of every month.. although I've been showing up in my Audi S4. I do usually arrive with a friend in his Gt3 (Richard), and another friend in his ACR Viper (Stuart) - and can't wait to show up in 2 weeks with my CR!!

I've heard the Porsche club meets there every other week? or some other time?

I'm pretty sure I've seen your S4 (nice car!) and I know for sure I've seen the ACR.

The Club meets at Jason's Deli in Brier Creek - just around the corner from where the first Saturday meets happen - every Saturday morning. Most folks show up around 8:00.

I'll keep an eye out for your CR! We have one new member with a Perdiot Green CR who has shown up the last few weeks. Nice guy, and beautiful car. Looking forward to checking yours out!

Re: 4 years!

I've only had mine since the start of the new year, but I couldn't be happier. It's a relief to see your cars have been reliable, that was the main reason it took me so long to convince the missus. I'll be at the koffeeklatch on saturday. Hope to see you there!

Re: 4 years!

I'm glad I found this thread. I'm moving to the Brier Creek area this weekend. I look forward to enjoying my car for years (I got it a few months ago) and meeting fellow Porsche owners. Look for a white/beige 08 CS. Don't be surprised if you see my wife driving it.

Re: 4 years!

Congrats to all you guys.

I'm coming up on my one year anniversary. I put "Cayman Birthday" on our iCloud calendar... Got my wife a little juiced up. Ha ha.

I've got a 40 mile / day commute but see it as a blessing as I'm sure you all can understand. Simply love the car.

Have a great day everyone. Stay safe.

I think I missed you, and if so I'm sorry! I was driving my "new" red 944S2 and got to the meeting a bit late. I hope to be there again this Saturday and I'll bring the Cayman this time! I'll be on the lookout for you.

I saw your S2 sitting across the street next to the 944. Hopefully we have a chance to chat next time. Are you going to the 991 unveiling on 4 feb in Raleigh?

Yes, my wife and I will be there. I'll be driving my Cayman. I'll do my best to remember to wear my Hurricane Region nametag. My name is Mike.

Hope to meet you there - it should be a nice event.
