Gorgeous New Configurator on Porsche.com

Wow! The new 911 AND the new Boxster are up on the new Porsche configurator software. Just type "porscheusa.com" and the site comes up. I was playing around last night. To get the 3-D feature, you need to download a small bit of software from the site, but it's worth it.

With the 3-D feature, you can see all the little options that used to not show. Stuff like carbon fiber or wood trim. The Boxster top goes up and down and you can watch it retract. There is a "movie" feature that shows off your newly designed car as if it were in a car commercial. You can turn on the lights and make it dark or light outside.

Warning 1: It'll be very hard to go back to the old configurator, which is still used on all the not new for 2012 cars.

Warning 2: You will be up late playing with this!

FWIW: I'm hooked on a Platinum Silver Boxster S with cocoa interior, sport steering wheel and wood package for the dash and shifter.

And I'm already dreading having to replace my nineteen-inch tires.

What a great reason to get 20" wheels!

1. The new 3-D configurator completely froze up my laptop just trying to select the color!

2. The Boxster S of my dreams is $93K!

We were crying loud for Porsche to move the 987 up next to the 911... Unfortunately they thought we were referring to the price
