First post

Hi there and greetings from Ireland!

This is my first post, i have recently bought a 06 CS. And I spend hours cleaning the car, only to find when I roll down either driver or pax window, it leaves a massive grease mark.

I is so annoying, any fixes for this? I have wedged a lollypop stick with clean towl along the seal gently and cleaned the seals, but still not happy.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much.

Re: First post

Sounds like it could be the window regulator. Haven't had that problem on the Cayman but on other cars it required replacement.

Re: First post

I had an '03 Boxster S that had that problem. Never did get it fixed. I think it is due to excessive grease on the window regulator. You could probably take off the inside trim and inspect the regulator and remove some of the grease if that is the problem.

Re: First post

I get something similar in my 2012 CR.

I don't get streaks, but I get this strange little circle of grease (just one) inside the window (both sides) after the window has been lowered. It is located about midway up the window in the forward half. At the risk of making a reference most in this audience are too young to recognize, it sort of reminds me of those circles that would indicate the presence of the Mysterons (sworn enemies of planet Earth) during an episode of Captain Scarlet.

Whatever is making this mark on the glass, would likely generate streaks if, over time, the windows drew more dirt on whatever it is.

Anyway....this Boxster Projects | Power Window Motor Repair might be useful....

Re: First post

I get the same exact circle in my CR as Singletrack does. The only advice I would have is keep lowering it and raising it while cleaning it each time till it doesn't happen again.

BoeingDriver: Welcome to Planet-9! I love my 06CS but the only time I get a streak on my window is after its washed and I forget and roll it down and then back up - but that's just the water in the felt. Good luck tracking it down!

Same here. When I had my '03 Boxster it always happened and I never got it fixed.

Re: First post

Welcome to the site BoeingDriver! So which Boeing do you drive?

That circle is some sort of rubber stopper that the glass rests on when lowered to prevent it from rattling. As to why it continues to exude a coating after years of use, you've got me.

I've got the dreaded grease mark as well, more on the drivers side. It happens if the window gets wet and water gets dragged into the workings of the door mechanism when the window is lowered.

It's not really an issue per se, but some people have managed to remove some of the excess grease by stuffing towels down the slot with spatulas. Not really recommended as you can lose the thing in there!

Same here . . . and it was on a Boxster S. I just kept cleaning the window glass. The grease streak eventually went away.

Re: First post

Little round marks on the window for my 2012.

I thought it was because its new. Was waiting for it to stop because I want to get my windows tinted. But
I guess this is more than a new car break in issue?

Also have a strange chemical smell after a few months. I have to look it up in FAQ. I remember seeing something about it, as another common break-in oddity, but can't remember what causes it?

Re: First post

Pistol Pete, I drive the guppy. 737-800.

Thanks everyone, I'll try the spatula thing, and also just constant cleaning, if that fails me I am going back to the dealer!

It really is a pain in the ***, as the rest of the car is spotless and the windows are all greasy!
