Country: | | | Giving up on Winter Contrary to Punksatony Phil's prediction, I'm finished with winter. He thinks there will be 6 more weeks, I'm still waiting for week 1. I have spent too many beautiful 60 degree days staring at my battery tender humming away.
So, as this is was my first time putting a car away for a season, it is now my first time bringing a car out of hibernation. Are there any special steps, other than reducing the air pressure in the tires back to normal levels? Or do I just fire it up, and head out to the Merritt for a good, old-fashioned, Italian tune up? |

(at least what I'm used to in this area) |

Hopefully spring comes early and it rains like crazy to wash all the salt off the roads. Can't wait to get the CS back on the road! |

I did it six weeks ago. Right now - it's 55° and Sunny. Been sunny and dry the last three days with a whole week to go.
Get out there man! Time's a wasting'

Country: | | | Re: Giving up on Winter We're not complaining here in the midwest (St. Louis). Tied 2 record highs this week. I've always said "if it's gonna be cold I'd just as soon have snow on the ground". But if we're talking temperatures in the 50s and 60s in January and February, well - you can't beat that. Not to mention that the car gets alot more action.
BTW - I'm a broadcast Meteorologist who's worked many an overnight snowstorm. |

If it hadn't, I'd be taking her our this weekend. Enjoy.

Mine's been under cover with inflated tires and a trickle charger since December 1st here in the Cleveland area. Other than maybe a dozen or so days, I would have been able to drive the car anytime. It's almost painful to drive home and see my baby covered up and dormant.
But . . . I fear once I taker her out, I'll regret it as the freezing temps and snow, snow, snow is bound to eventually get here. But I do agree. While my BMW sportswagen is extremely adequate and a nice drive.... it ain't the same!

I read that this makes the engine "turn over" one time and gets the oil moving around in there. Then let the car sit for a minute and start it up. Has worked flawless for the prior 2 seasons.
I am with you on the mild winter though, I will not be bringing my car out early. I would still not drive it enough to justify turning the insurance back on, and I am trying my hardest to not get road salt into the car as I want it to last for years to come....
Who says global warming is bad???? Now everyone stop using the recycle bins and compost piles so we can enjoy more winters like this

Can't agree more wrt to tires. First winter I got stuck after a 1 mile loop around my neighborhood. In my driveway. In 4" of snow. PS2s, but I'll bet the alternatives are no better. Now have a set of Conti810s.
Today I took my CS out for a spin. Unplugged the CTek3300 and got a Scooby-doo noise - slowww ruh-roh, ruh-roh - but it did catch. 4+ year old battery - owes me nothing. Drove for an hour, gassed it, parked and popped the hood primary release before shutting down. Will pick up a Maxx-94R at the local Walmart tomorrow. Sum total of hibernation preparations. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
