I gave my new R its first bath this weekend. During the event, I found two places on the rear bumper down near the exhaust where the paint is chipped. Since my car had been on jackstands since I brought it home, I can only assume it was delivered this way, but I didn't let the dealership wash the car, so they didn't see it either. I hope they will at least do a free touch up for me.

On the to main point, I took my clean car out today to take some pics. When I got home and started looking through them, I noticed a hole in the bottom front passenger side of the car. Is this normal? It seems like there should be a rectangular piece there to cover up the hole. Thanks in advance.

That hole was on my 09 S, I would assume its on all of them.

Yes normal opening. I was told is was for the low horn.

OK, thanks guys. I tried a search, but didn't come up with the right combo of words to find what I was looking for. Now, just to get the rear bumper touched up!

The rear bumper thing really sucks. I can attest that it is not just a white Cayman R thing... but it is invisible on my black R. Never realized it was there until you brought it up.

The horns are accessible through that opening. I just replaced mine, I assume it's helpful to make the louder as well, as there isn't really another opening to let the sound out.

No such hole on my 2012 CR delivered in late Sept.

I have hole in my R

I went a bit too fast thru some deep water and zapped the horns. That little hole and the angle of the horn bracket must have been the culprits.

Always let the dealer do full prep before delivery. They are pretty good at catching that stuff and will hit the factory or transport to make right so you don't have this sort of problem. Way back when was in High School my best friend (still is) worked for his dad at Dallas first Porsche dealer. He got to be assistant on new car make ready so went down and helped for free a few times. This was winter of 65-66 I think. Only reason did it, since was a muscle car guy then, was those neat new cars with the flat six that were starting to come in. Way more intresting than the 356 stuff.

I'm pretty sure my CR doesn't have that...I'll check tonight.

Never mind - it has it.

Are you sure?....it is on the passenger side only. Having washed that area several times, I also did not think I had it until I got down and looked.

Absolutely sure. In fact, I had to take that piece off to touch up some damage caused by running into a parking stop, so I got a very good look at it.

I have it too! First time I've noticed it.

2008 Base....has hole.

My mistake. It's there. (It's behind the front lip piece, on the main part of the front bumper cover.)
