IMO, this is why Nissan (or Infiniti) will never be competition for PAG.
The money talks. Its all in the demographics. Who buys the cars, where are the demographics. How is the marque marketed and what is the target audience. It doesn't matter that the GTR is faster around the Ring than a TT, the marque is not perceived by the marketplace as a premium marque. Branding matters.

(I could quote more die-hard Porshce bandwagoners, but I won't.. for sake of argument)
Let's face it guys... most potential Porsche buyers will look to buy Porsche simply because of the "brand name" it represents. This "brand name" might be due to history, the target audience, the exclusiveness, and whatever else you want to argue. The potential Porsche owners want this to be exclusive themselves, they want to be able to impress the opposite gender, they want others to "look" at their car & the driver as they pass by, and they want others to be jealous that they could shell out $$$ for this brand persona.
The fact of the matter is.. if there was any other brand that doesn't have all this "posh" to it's name.. no matter if it KILLED a Porsche on the actual streets and/or track.. the Porsche seekers would still buy the Porsche. Personally, I don't care for all that... even if a realiable company such a Nissan made a car that could destroy a Porsche.. I couldn't justify paying the "premium" for all that C_R_A_P.. IMHO. When you are in the middle of a race/driving.. nobody is thinking about what badge a car has as it zooms by you..basically you're struggling to catch up!
Again.. let me re-post the quote of this entire thread:
