Mastretta MXT.. THE MEXICAN?

Mastretta MXT.. THE MEXICAN? ( from the movie)
Unveiled at the London Motor Show, the Mastretta MXT is a Mexican lightweight two-seater sportscar powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, with aluminum chassis and fiber glass body .It will be launched in UK on May 2009 with a base price of $63,373 USD or 42,233 Euros...

Defined by Mastretta says as "the first car ever to be designed and built in Mexico", the MXT's goal is to be a strong rival to lightweight sports cars such as the Lotus Elise and Exige...

Powered by a Cosworth-built 2-litre turbocharged Duratec engine developing 240bhp, the rear-wheel drive two-seater weighs just 900kg, and this impressive power-to-weight ration gives it an impressive 0-60mph time of less than 5 seconds, while the top speed reaches 150mph.
It doesn't match a Porsche for looks. But it will certainly be challenging the Cayman S on the tracks. I love to see these new mid engine sports cars. The more of these new sports cars made, the more fun life will be on the track for the Cayman S. I care nothing about sharing a track with BMW and Audi and Evo sedans! Sports cars rock!

We needed to create a great car because Mexico has no tradition of sophisticated sports car manufacturing,” says designer Daniel Mastretta.“It is most important that our customers are delighted by the new MXT. That’s what we aimed to do from the first drawing of the car, but we also want to make our country proud of the MXT and to show the world what we can do.”

Launched in the UK???

WTF? That is a slap in the face. They don't even know where Mexico is.

I want a Mexican car. Just saying "Mexican car" is hilarious.

Will people steal them and drive them to Canada ?

What next? Japanese cameras?

In all seriousness, I think it looks great. I hope it does well.

Will people from Detroit be sneaking across the border to get jobs in the Mastretta factory? Mastretta is a great car name, by the way.

Looks like they got lazy when designing the rear end.
