AMB Transponder questions

I need to mount an AMB Tranx 260 transponder for an upcoming TT. Has anyone had any experience with the battery powered rechargeable version (as opposed to the direct wired version)? Also, I am a little unclear about the best mounting location. I believe the preferred place is generally the left front wheel well, but where specifically? If anyone can post a picture, I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

Re: AMB Transponder questions

You can either screw the mount into one of the wheel wells (Zornet may have a picture), or for a less permanent mount just zip tie it either your rear license plate frame or one of the front radiator grills (see photo).

BTW, which TT are you running? PCASDR or POC?

Cheers,

There are several of us using the the battery powered transponders with the POC, as long as it is charged there are now issues. Most of us for now have been attaching them to the front grill with zip ties. Zornet I believe mounted his in the right wheel well. I have seen some people attach them to the rear license plate area. Fully charged it should work for 4 days.

Re: AMB Transponder questions

Based upon experiences of friends of mine, the transponders will work fine through plastic and fiberglass. Just stay within ~12" of the track surface.

I haven't used on my CS yet. However I thought that inside the front air scoops leading to the radiator, beneath/behind the fog light would be a decent place to mount one if doing so permanently.
