Alignment Questions

I am using the "String" method to check my current toe settings. I set strings up on both sides of the car parallel to the centerline measuring off of the wheel caps. I'm finding that the distance between the rear center cap and string is 3/8" more then the distance between front cap and string. My overall distance between both strings at each ends of the car is the same. Considering track and offset differences, does this sound about right? Next, looking at the eccentric screw on the rear toe link, the screw head is in its most outboard position. I believe that that indicates that there is no more toe-in available on that side. Is that correct? Thanks.

That all sounds correct to me.

Re: Alignment Questions

All sounds right to me too - assuming the rear toe links are on the rear side of the uprights (not the front. Can't remember without looking at my car). The strings are definitely set up correctly.

Re: Alignment Questions

Thanks Fort and Jeff. I thought I had it right but thought I'd bounce it off some who had more experience (My very old race car was a solid rear axle MGB). Jeff, Yes the toe link is at the rear of the upright. Fort, your "Down Home" alignment article was helpful. How did the experiment of moving the out-board end of the toe link work?

That's still on my to-do list. Late next week, I hope...
